Go to your printers folder and right click on the MP150 and choose properties. Then look through the options and find one that allows you to specify black and white or color. Then you'll be able to print the way you desire.

Try to check your printing preferences if it's set to print using all available ink or check if it's set to print in black and white. To do that, on the application that you're printing from, click on File > Print > Preferences/Properties.
Also, make sure that the firmware of your printer is up to date. Just go to http://bit.ly/ghfW8H to download the firmware update.
Hi joyce2020 Some printers do print even if one cartridge is empty. This is what you have to do. Goto the print setting page. you will find check boxes for Print in Color OR Black& White. Usually, the color box is checked. When you check the box for color, you can print in black and white as well provided the text is written in B&W. If you check the B&W, the printer will print everything in black including color text and graphics.
the ink can probably just be left empty in the tray, this will be color has no ink left, but black dose, hence you should be able to print with the black only now. taking out color or tricolor will result in nothing being printed. some printers have the option to select black and white print modes only, this will be your best bet to use only black and white. and will yield more then 15% efficiency over color that uses far more ink due to pixelation and blending modes.
In the Printer properties There is an option like: Print in color Print in Black and white (it may be different wording for different printers) Change it to print in B&W When you get your color cartridge remember to change it back to color - Normally it should be left in color. hope this will work for you luciana44
If you go into control panel then go printer options you should see your printer icon. Right click on it and go printer preferences or printer properties and I think there is a colour tab where you can set it to just back and white
Please check if your Colour Ink Cartridge is not emply. If their's ink in the cartridge then try to service your printer through the Print Preferences. Your Colour Cartridge Nozzels could have been blocked thats why your printer is unable to print in Colour.
In case if both the above doesn't work then check in the Print Preferences that you should not have saved the option of PRINT DOCUMENT IN BLACK ONLY. hope this helps , AJ
