Will not back up - says 'Invalid drive specification'

I have an Iomega external hard drive. P/N is 31641400. model is MDHD320-U. Used to back up for 3 computers. Suddenly ceased working for one of the computers - message 'Invalid drive specification' shows. Nothing has changed, and the other two computers back up OK.

Thanks for your response. The drive letter is still the same. In fact, I had a good look at what had been going on on the offending computer over the past 3 weeks, which was when the problem started. I found that a Java update had been installed. I therefore carried out a system restore to just before the installation of the update and, hey presto, the problem disappeared. Clearly, there is something in the Java update that interferes with either the notepad instructions or does not allow the Iomega drive to recognize the driver.

Did you add another drive to that computer? it sounds like the hard drive has taken on a different drive letter and you have a program that has the drive letter specified. check to make sure the drives letter didnt change.

How can I tell if everything is downloaded to my external drive...it was flashing and then stopped to leave a little light on...how can I tell how much memory is left on that external hard drive?

Hello and Good Day!

1.Click Start on the lower corner of your desktop PC go to My Computer. 2. Left Click My Computer using your mouse.(it will pop up new windows) 3.Locate your Hard Drive perhaps it is labeled as IOMEGA or removable drive. 4. Right click IOMEGA or removable drive then select Properties.a new window will pop up displaying a circle with two colors one is pink and other is blue. blue represents as used space and the pink as free space
Hope it helps Thanks!

My external hdd used to be reconized and accessable by my computer but after several uses all it does is make a buzzing sound. My computer will not reconize its presence until after it is shut down.

Hi

Its not a software issue with your computer or external hard drive but a hardware issue with the external hard drive. You'll need to get your Iomega hardrive checked from Imomega, hope its under warranty. You can reach them at--

Please do accept this solution and revert for further assistance.

MDHD320-U Power supply

No. You need to supply the same or higher amps than the device uses. Otherwise, the powersupply can burn and cause fire.

I have an Iomega external hard drive. P/N is 31641400. model is MDHD320-U. I have been unable to locate any DC12V adapter to work on my external hard drive. Could you please assist me in finding one that...

please check the power rating and the amperage rating

you will get it as 500ma or 1amp or 1.5amp.
and as 12 volts.
so a adapter with specifications of 12v DC. 1.5 AMPS WILL WORK.

IF 1.5 AMPS IS NOT AVAILABLE USE 1 AMP THIS SHOULD ALSO WORK

IF YOU FAIL SEND THE DRIVE TO ME....
