Question about Nintendo Wii Console

No Wii Menu. A screen that states the URL is unavailable

We have a Wii that has been modified and has been working ok with genuine & non genuine games. Now when Wii is turned on we do not get the Wii Menu. All we get is a screen with the following:

You tried to access the address marc/EU/ENG/Setup/Startup_index1.html which is currently unavailable. Please make sure that that web address (URl) is correctly spelled and punctuated, then try reloading the page.

Make sure that your internet connection is active and check whether other applications that rely on the same connection are working.

My best guess here would be that something has gone wrong with the mod and it has screwed your machine up.
I am unaware how Wiis are modded but if it is a chip thats soldered into the machine id try removing it. (it shouldnt have been modded anyway, theres a lesson here).
If it is somekind of firmware mod you should try and get the original firmware back on the machine.
Theres also the possibility that it just isnt fixable from this stage. Modding consoles voids the warranty and theres always the risk of losing the machine in the process. Dont mess with what you cannot afford to lose. Remember this next time you decide to mod something.

How do i know if i got everthing to hook up to the internet with my wii

here is a step by step guide if you have everything you need that the guide states you will have no problems. First you'll need a compatible wireless router that can be found by going to the following site:
From there, select your country, which will then take you to the WiFi index page. On this page,
mouse over TECH SUPPORT at the top and from the menu that drops down, click on ROUTER INFO. Near
the top of the following page, under the words "I don't own a wireless router, help me find one!"
there is a "click here" link, which will finally take you to Nintendo's wireless router rating
page, which you can look through to either see if your router will work or if you don't have a
router, which one to get. For reference, if you live in North America, here is the router rating
The following are pics I took of my TV when first setting up my Wii's internet connection...
From the wii home menu...

Go to Wii Options in the lower left.

Click on Wii Settings to the right.

From this first list, click the right arrow.

Now on page 2, click on Internet.

Then click Connection Settings.

From this list, click Connection 1.

Then, click Wireless Connection...

and then click Search for an Access Point.

It will briefly search for any access points and when this screen comes up, click OK.

The following will be a list of nearby access points. If the one you are looking for doesn't show
up, click Try again. Then, click the one you have access to...

When the following screen appears, click OK...

and OK again.

It will test the connection...

And if successful, the following will drop down. Click Yes to update Wii.

Sometimes the above screen is false, saying there is an update when there isn't and the following
will appear...

Now, back in Wii System Settings, click on WiiConnect24.

From the following list click WiiConnect24.

Click On and then Confirm to save your settings. This feature allows for updates to be seemlessly
sent to your Wii so you don't have to do the final step every time.

Ok, the final step, just as a way to make sure your Wii is up to date. Click the right arrow from
the 2nd page of Wii System Settings.

Click Wii System Update...

click yes...

it will test your connection for a few seconds...

an update screen may quickly come up and tell you there is an update (whether or not your Wii
actually needs one)

and the following screen will appear. Click Wii Menu to finish.

1 Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from or 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives. 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive. 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'. 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place. 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now. if you require further assistance please let me know and i will be glad to assist you. -Midwest-tek

I just bought a new plasma tv. I cannot seem to

You Plasma TV is probably an HDTV, which means you need to change the settings on your Wii to HD. Just go to the Wii menu and modify the TV settings. If you don't want to do that, make sure you connect your RCA cables to the non-HD slots on your TV so that the yellow RCA cable is in the yellow slot and not the green HD slot.

Has your wii been modified with a chip? If so this probably means that your wii is bricked.

Unable to access wii settings

This happened to my Wii till i came across this youtube video. So basically, i look for a file called - wii-ntsc-systemmenu-v289 - paste that into google and you'll find links to the actual file. Burn the iso on a DVD-R then popped it into my wii. Go run the CD and it will immediately ask you for an update. Click ok and let it run. After it updates, volla! i can go to my settings and my current version is now 3.2U.
