Question about Linksys WUSB54GSC Compact Wireless-G USB Network Adapter w/ SpeedBooster [WUSB54GSC] (LS-SB54GSC)

1 Answer

Can't link to internet using Linksys WMP54GX-UK Wireless adapter

The first time I tried to install the installer got stuck at 30% -- which is when I looked up similar problems on FixYa. I followed the recommended solution (download and reinstall the drivers) and everything was going well -- the installation wizard automatically identified my router (after I changed channel), showing a 99% signal strength. The router connection to the service provider was also fine -- they checked from their end. However I could not complete the connection -- for some reason (maybe a setting not correct somewhere?) I could not connect. I tried the Linksys website for help and got stuck in an unhelpful automated advice loop. The only solution I could find was to uninstall and start again. Reluctantly, I tried the uninstall programme, but this got stuck at (apparently) 25%! and I haven't been able to make any progress since. Does anyone have any ideas how I can get over the final hurdle or should I give up?
Grateful for any help. Thanks.

Thanks for your help -- miraculously, when I turned it on this morning I found that it connected straight away and have since been unable to replicate the problem. I will keep your solution to hand in case it happens again. Sorry to have put you to this trouble for what appears now like no reason. I remain mystified about why I could not get it to work at all before. Thanks again.

I just got a labtop and i would like to install linksys notebook adapter to the labtop how do i install linksys without internet to my labtop?

Well first of all you need the drivers installed before the adapter will work. If you do not have internet then you must go to the Library or a friends home that does have internet, click on this link and download the drivers to a thumb drive or burn to a cd or dvd. after than insert the media into your laptop and install from the thumb driver or cd, here is the link hope this helps. :) http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/adapters/WPC54G/download You will find the download link toward the bottom of the page.

Can't get my adapter to connect...XP is stuck with Aquiring a network address.

Have had this same problem. This worked for me. Remove the adapter, uninstall linksys, if it is installed, restart the computer, insert the adapter, when found new hardware comes up, let windows use the install wizard to install the adapter. Sorry to say, i have used this method on 5 pcs and it failed on only one. Let's hope yours will also be possitive. Good luck.

Installation is stuck at 30%

hi
may be the installation software is not working, what you need to do is take the cd out from the computer and just plugg the wireless adapter, when you plug in the wireless adapter it will tell you to insert the cd that came with the usb card so that the software can be installed, once you see this message insert the cd and then follow the setup screen(imp thing:incase you see the screen of the linkys installation donot follow that, follow the windows software setup screen) this will install the software and i am sure the software will get installed if the software has totally gone bad then here is a link you can donwnload the software from website and then try the installation

My installation is stuck at 30%

  • Hey, Have to also make sure the wireless adapter is not plugged while installing (only when prompted to plug it in)
  • You can try downloading a NEW installer from the Linksys website. (maybe the cd is scratched?...) Here is a link to the Driver/installer, for your adapter. (This is a WindowsXP Driver)
  • Try installing the driver using that, and then plug in your wireless adapter when the setup program prompts for you to do so.
Report back if there are any more complications or issues that occur during the above process,

I'll be happy to assist you further.
I Hope This Helps.

It sounds as if the install software is corrupted.

Download a new copy and try again.

The Linksys download page is here.

Wont install

I have only tried this on Windows XP. If you can connect to the web using a hard line you can get this running. Make sure you have internet. Then plug the wireless adapter into the usb port and when windows ask if it can search the internet say yes. That will install a driver for the wusb54gc. Then windows will manage the device. Linksys only has the option to download the installer as opposed to just the driver. What a pain when the installer doesn't work.
