Hi there,

This is a common problem on washing machines, if you predominantly do cold washes.

Over a period of time, a washing machine will accumulate a buildup of Soap Scum (excess soap & softener residue) which can stick to the inside of the drum.

This black coloured soap scum occasionally breaks away from the drum, and attaches to the clothing fabric during the wash cycle.

You can rectify this, by doing the following:

Firstly, purchase a packet of CITRIC ACID from your local grocery store (usually found in the baking isle).

Do the following procedure before going to bed:

1) Do a HOT WASH without clothes (Hi water level, with HOT water) - allow machine to fill with hot water, then add the CITRIC ACID to the water. Allow the machine to complete a FULL wash cycle (i.e. allow machine to agitate for 30 mins or so, then drain).

2) Fill the machine again with the HOT water / CITRIC ACID solution, but this time allow it to sit in the bowl overnight (no cycle).

3) Next morning, set machine to spin & drain (i.e. to empty the solution)

4) Set machine to fill with FRESH HOT WATER ONLY (no citric acid), then set machine to spin & drain. This will flush all remaining residue left in the bowl.

Note: Soap scum residue is caused by using excess detergent/fabric softener. Hot Water flushing should be done every 6 months.

Contrary to what the detergent manufacturers state, you should follow Samsung's instructions by using HALF the recommended detergent.

Samsung machines prefer LOW SUDS, and you may find by reducing the amount of detergent used, you may even eliminate the buildup of soap scum.

No doubt the above page is for "LG", However it's the basic and would remain the same for all models and machines whether that's GE, LG, Samsung etc....

Hi.

You need to check the drain filter located in front of the machine at the bottom, behind a trim panel or a service door. If the problem occurs again the machine is faulty and must be repaired. Parts such as drain system, drain pump, pressure switch and control panel may be responsible for drain problems.

Check the position of the drain hose. Ensure that the height is as specified by the manual or you get siphoning and drain does not end.

Access the drain filter. With most front loaders this located in front at the bottom in a corner, there should be a trim or an access panel.Top loaders have an access panel at the back, or more commonly the pump is accessed from underneath, bending the appliance on one side and securing it.

The machine has a pressure switch. It is a sensor connected to a long thin rubber hose. The pressure switch is often in control assembly. Clean the hose and the switch. One way to test the pressure switch is by blowing into the switch, but manufacturers say this must not be done as you can damage a good switch. The pressure switch is difficult to test in full. Testing is done either reading voltages while machine is working or reading Ohms at the switch with tub empty and full. For safety reasons I suggest users to avoid performing tests or maintenance that must be done with power on.

Here a page about drain/spin problem.

Start checking drain hose and drain filter. If machine is a front loader the drain filter access is located behind the door at the front bottom side of the machine.

If you need parts see this tip explaining how to find parts and diagrams for most appliances: Where do I find parts and diagrams for my appliance?

Regards.

HI. My Yamaha D80 while playing gave a burned smell and than sound quit. Rest works. I opened rearcover and notice 3rd fuse in the back was blown. Changed it. Blew again. So I stopped fidling around.

If the fuse blows and a smell of burning is present then its obvious there i a fault somewhere ahead of the fuse, the fuse is a protection device.

Kenmore HE2 Plus washer, getting F-01 error code

My less than 2 year old HE washing machine gave me an F01 error code the other night while doing a load. I opened the bottom kick panel and found the service repair guide which gave some suggestions on how to clear / troubleshoot the error code pointing to the CCU as being the problem. None of the steps proved to be successfull really so I read a little more on-line. I located the CCU (remove top cover of washing machine and it is located on front right hand side - bunch of wires going to it). Checked all connectors for proper seating and all looked good (AC removed). Now I'm not sure which step fixed my problem but I'll describe what I did. I removed and re-seated each of the wiring connectors to the CPU and I also left the unit unplugged over-night (previous attempts of removing power for 10 minutes did nothing). The following morning all was well when I tried to do a rinse-spin cycle. I've done a couple more since then and hope to continue doing so with any luck! Certainly follow the steps in the user / service manual to attempt to clear your trouble but this may help as well. It saved me a service call and probably a $200 CCU board!

Might be "tE" error code. Thermistor error. A $6 parts and pretty common and causes the symptoms you described.

the ecm itself has a fuse, look for that first-if it does prove to be good, you probably have a bad ecm, and the window being down part way might indicate a short somewhere-are all fuses and fusible links good?

My whirlpool duet washer won't do its final drain-spin. It apparently made it through the wash cycles. I have tried re-setting, and using the drain-spin cycle several times. It does not proceed. The...

On the front of your washer below the door there is a removable panel. The screws are on the bottom of the washer. Take that panel off and inside you will find a Filter it is right in front. turn the cap counterclockwise and pull out the filter. Clean it up and reinsert it. They get full of pocket junk, hair, and coins. I warn you it smells horrid. Once you have it back together. Run a clean cycle for the machine and it should drain fine. If this doesn't work than it could be a problem with the control board.

My dryer takes much longer to dry loads now

Hi!

You need to check the following things to sort out the issue you are facing with--

Improper sorting •Separate heavy items from lightweight items (generally, to dry a well-sorted washer load is a well-sorted dryer load).
Large loads of heavy fabrics •Large, heavy fabrics contain more moisture and take (like beach towels) longer to dry. Separate large, heavy fabrics into smaller loads to speed drying time.
Controls improperly set •Match control settings to the load you are drying.
Lint filter is full •Clean lint filter before every load.
Improper or obstructed ducting •Check installation instructions for proper ducting/venting.
•Make sure ducting is clean, free of kinks and unobstructed.
•Check to see if outside wall damper operates easily.
•Check the Installation Instructions to make sure the dryer venting is correct.
Blown fuses or tripped •Replace fuses or reset circuit breakers. Since most dryers circuit breaker use 2 fuses/breakers, make sure both are operating.
Overloading/combining loads •Do not put more than one washer load in the dryer at a time.
Underloading •If you are drying only one or two items, add a few items to ensure proper tumbling.

My LG 2277HW gave the LE error and we replaced the entire motor based on a Washing Machine Repair Company's advice. Within the month the machine would not spin the clothes all the way out and eventually...

The LE issue should of been for the followinig, not a motor:
LE LOCKED MOTOR ERROR

• The connector (3-pin, male, white) in the MOTOR HARNESS is not connected to the connector (3-pin, female, white) of STATOR ASSEMBLY.

• The electric contact between the connectors (3-pin, male, white) in the MOTOR HARNESS and 4-pin, female, white connector in the MAIN PWB ASSEMBLY is bad or unstable.

• The MOTOR HARNESS between the STATOR ASSEMBLY and MAIN PWB ASSEMBLY is cut (open circuited).

• The ball sensor is out of order/defective.

The OE error means it is not draining. Two diffrent issues.
Are you sure you cleaned out the drain filter on the bottom? Not just drained it. You have to drain it then pull the filter out and clean it.

I can't upload my mp3 audio anymore on my Music Creator 4

oooooooooh yea, thats actually NOT the Music Creator software. It's some kind of weird internal Windows thing. I would try googling that error message (need EXACT wording) but I've heaerd of this and it's got something to do with that particular mp3 file. It's got some incorrect parameters. Try another mp3 and then try a clean version of that same mp3 (not the one that gave the error but get another version somewhere)

Find horn, remove wire connector from it, try new fuse, push horn again, if fuse blows, you have short somewhere between, if it doesn't, it's the horn.

Blown fuses

I used to have one of those amps also (nice amp btw) Did you try another fuse of the same size?
Is it blowing fuses everytime you put one in or did it just blow that one fuse ?
Is the conection on the battery solid and clean of corrosion build up? Because that is a good amp and if wired properly shouldnt blow out or anything and so if the speaker is not blown then maybe connection is weak somewhere? I would try disconnecting the speakers from it and try a new fuse and if it does not blow the new fuse than amp is ok? and if it does blow the new fuse right away then there must be a short somewhere in the wire or the amp. then disconnect the fuse again and reconnect the speakers and if the fuse blows with the speakers connected but doesnt blow with them disconnected then you know it is a blown speaker causing the problem.

Just currious but what size fuse do you have connected at the battery?
