Question about Actiontec (GT704WG) Router

Nintendo DS vs. ActionTec GT704WG

Hiya!

So, My whole house runs off of the Actionec GT704WG wireless system, even my Wii picks up on it with no problem. But, when I try to use any internet-based wireless activities with my DS, (Like, trading Pokemon worldwide) it blocks me and says it can't read the password. (It has the grey locked icon next to it)

So, What I was guessing is one of 3 things. Maybe someone can help me...

1. Change the password to......something. Or change it to a WEP key, since the DS can apparently read that. Both of wich, I don't really know how to do, as this was given to me by another person, and he's forgotten too.

2. Get the DS internet adapter-thingie. I dont know if this will actually work, though, and for like, $40, it's kind of a big risk...

3. Smash my head and or the DS until one gives up.

The Nintendo website didnt really help, either, it just more or less said that I need a different connection. But, if the Wii can do it, then why not the DS?

Also, if it helps, it's a DS lite, not the original.

Your DS may need another connection that is only blocked with a red lock. (Meaning WEP code locked.) If so, phone a computer tech support to help you set a connection with Wifi (wireless connection) and ask him/ her to set it to WEP code and "blocked". Then ask them to temporarily leave while you set your WEP password. A grey lock means that your DS is not compatible to your access point.

its explaned in the manual - here on page 47 http://www.actiontec.com/support/broadband/gt704-wg.html which is probably simpler than repeating here - however, if you have trouble with the manual - post back a reply

How do you connect the wii to a dsi

Can You Use Nintendo DS With Wii?

The portable Nintendo systems, Nintendo DS, DS Lite, and DSi, are connectible with the Nintendo Wii system, much like the compatibility between Nintendo's Gameboy Advance and Gamecube video game systems.

  1. Purpose
    • Connecting the Nintendo DS, DS Lite, or DSi to the Nintendo Wii allows owners of these systems to use them to their maximum potential, as they take advantage of the Nintendo Wi-Fi connectivity. This allows you to use the systems simultaneously with certain Nintendo DS games.
    Connecting
    • To connect the Nintendo DS, DS Lite or DSi to the Nintendo Wii, the Wii needs to be connected to the Internet wirelessly either through a router or by the Wii LAN adapter. These Nintendo systems share a Wi-Fi connection, and this allows the portable Nintendo systems to connect instantly to the Wii via the wireless signal shared by the Wii and the Internet.
    Function
    • Once you have your portable Nintendo system and Nintendo Wii connected, the DS will act as a controller and allow you to play the DS game through the Wii system while maintaining the touchscreen and microphone capabilities of the portable system. Another function of the connection is that the Wii is able to expand the portable Nintendo system's games.
    Games
    • There are only a handful of portable Nintendo games that allow you to connect to the Wii, including the Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl games, which allow players to use Pokemon accumulated via these DS titles to battle with in the Wii's Pokemon Battle Revolution game.
    Future
    • Nintendo has commented that there are plans of being able to download and play game demos to the portable Nintendo systems through the Wii's Nintendo Channel.

I have an actiontec gt704wg wireless router (from my previous Verizon DSL service)...I now have a Netgear CGD24G wireless router with Brighthouse roadrunner service...I want to connect my actiontec router...

unfortunately, no. You would be better off Ebaying the actiontec and getting a dedicated router- the reason is that the only uplink on the actiontec is the dsl port- not ethernet. Theoretically you could mod the firmware to make the wireless an access point only- but it would still have the achilles heel of needing an uplink.

hi,

you can try to reset the router itself, there is a little button at the back of it where you can insert a pin or a pencil, make sure that the router is on then press and hold the reset button for one minute then turn it off, then connect it to you ATT and access the firmware,if its still the same, theres no way for you to use it since thats the only way that you can do...
