Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9564J Top Load Washer
Ok, let's see what we can do here. First, you need to get the machine up in the front. Have an assistant help you raise the front. Pull it out from the wall some first for clearance. Place a couple of boards or other sturdy object(s) that are the same height under the front so you can safely get a good look under there. Look for rusty spots or obvious holes. If you have trouble spotting any, unplug the machine, make sure there is no water in it, and place a bright light inside the wash drum. Turn off the lights in the room and look underneath again. If you see any pinpoints of light, you've found your leak!
Now, many hardware stores and especially several appliance speciality shops sell "washing machine leak repair patches." These sound great, and they DO work. However, for a strip of patch about 3 inches wide by 6 inches long, they charge around $30.00
Save yourself some cash and have something handy around. Go buy a good 2 part marine epoxy. Mix it in equal parts and use an old spatula or popsicle stick to work the epoxy into the area where the leak is. It might be a good idea to sand the area with some medium grit paper first, especially if the surface is very smooth or has lots of rust. This will help the epoxy adhere better, and slow down the amount of time it will take to rust out again.
I've used this solution on several machines in the past 20 years and they tend to hold up for years before needing to be patched again!
