Enter your confirmation cod

If you bought the software, you own the license. The key code for the software is located on the hard plastic box like in the picture above your problem posted on Fixya. Open the sliding case, and you will see a sticker that says "key code" . You might have to look around to find it. The sticker has a series of roughly 16 to 25 numbers and letters separated by dashes. You enter the numbers on the screen where it asks you for the key code.

You are allowed to install the software 3 times. After the third install, if you still need to do it again you have to call Microsoft and they will explain what to do or enter to get the software to work again.

Hope this helps?

1304 error when trying to install microsoft office student 2007

To resolve this behavior, use the following methods.
: Re-Register the Windows Installer
To re-register the Windows Installer, verify the location of the Msiexec.exe file on your hard disk and in the Windows Registry, and then re-register the Windows Installer. To do so:

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
Verify the location of the Msiexec.exe file on your hard disk. To do so:
Click Start, and then click Search.
Click All files and folders.
In the File name box, type msiexec.exe, and then click Search.
In the search results, make a note of the location of the Msiexec.exe file.

The location of the Msiexec.exe file should be similar to the following example, where Drive is the drive where Windows is installed, and %Windir% is the folder where Windows is installed:

An example of this is C:\Windows\System32.

Note In Microsoft Windows 98-based computers, the Msiexec.exe file is located in the Drive:\%Windir%\System folder.
On the File menu, click Close.
Verify the location of the Msiexec.exe file in the Windows Registry. To do so:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
Locate, and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\MSIServer

In the right pane, double-click ImagePath.
In the Edit String dialog box, make sure that the string in the Value data box contains the correct path of the Msiexec.exe file on your hard disk that you determined earlier in step 1.

For example, if the Msiexec.exe file is located in the Drive:\Windows\System32 folder on your hard disk, the correct path of the Msiexec.exe file in the Value data box is the following path, where Drive is the drive where Windows is installed:
Drive:\Windows\System32\Msiexec.exe /V

If the Value data box does not contain the correct path, make the appropriate changes to correct the path, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.
Start your computer in safe mode, and then register the Msiexec.exe file. To do so:
Shut down, and then restart your computer.
Press F8 after you receive the following message:

Please select the operating system to start
On the Windows Advanced Option menu, use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode, and then press ENTER.
If you use a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the appropriate operating system from the list that is displayed, and then press ENTER.
Log on to the computer.
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK:
msiexec /regserver

Shut down, and then restart your computer in standard mode.
If the issue persists and you still receive the error message that is described earlier in the "Symptoms" section, follow the steps in Method 2.
Method 2: Reinstall the Windows Installer
To reinstall the Windows Installer, rename the damaged Windows Installer files, and then reinstall the Windows Installer. To do so:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following line, and then press ENTER, where Drive is the drive where Windows is installed and where %Windir% is the folder where Windows is installed:
attrib -r -s -h drive:\%Windir%\system32\dllcache

For example, type
attrib -r -s -h c:\windows\\system32\dllcache

At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER.
Restart your computer.
Update the Windows Installer files on your hard disk to the latest version. __________________

We have Vista home basic and windows office 2007. Over the last 2 years we have had prompt about every month to enter our Product Key for windows. We don't have the number and suspect it is a software...

You should have the product key for Windows. If it came with the computer you are using it might be located at the bottom or the will be a sticker. The problem is if windows is prompting you for a key that means that it is in the 30 day trial period and the key has not been entered yet. If a key is not entered after 30 days the OS will shut down until a authentic key is entered. The fact that you have been able to run the software for 2 years is strange. Where did you get the computer from? The person who installed Windows may have hacked into it and disabled it so it will not shut down and that is not legal. Are you able to do any Windows updates or service pack downloads from Windows? You could contact microsoft and buy a serial number that can be used for the OS. Do you have the original Windows Vista installation DVD or is it a copy?

I opened microsoft word and it said enter product key and i entered it and it said incorrect.....I GOT THE PRODUCT KEY PRINTED ON THE COMPUTER

That product key may be for Microsoft Windows, not for Word. Verify with that sticker and see if that is the case.

Normally Office (Word) keys are included in the CD case, not on the computer case

My Product Key Code does not work on Microsoft Word 2007!

Did you purchase Office, or did you use the trial? A purchased boxed copy will have a code on a sticker somewhere in the box.

The code on your "hard drive"... do you mean the code on your computer's case? If so, that is your code for your copy of windows that is installed on it, and it won't work with Office.

If you already used the trial up, installing a new copy won't reset it, and the new code there won't work.

You can purchase it from the Microsoft website:

If you haven't already purchased it, you could also try the free OpenOffice from
This is FREE and you can open, create and save Microsoft Office files with it.

Incorrect product key

The key sticker at the back is usually for Micosoft Windows, and not Office 2007, key for office 2007 is usually on a sticker in the box.
If you are trying to install a Microsoft product and you are using right key, it can happen that it does not work for different reasons, In this case you need to contact Microsoft to validate your product by phone. Track Microsoft phone number in your area from Microsoft website here:
