The memory card is locked Taped side hole and switch in up position...I think unlocked. Still says card is locked.

Oops. The little latch on the side in the unlock position, should engage a switch in the camera, indicating the memory card is not writ protected. It is not an electrical switch doing something in the memory card. But is the switch in the camera is defect, you get the same result. If someone once tried to press in a memory card, the wrong way around, this could have been the cause of a damaged switch. Just check the memory card slot, of nothing is in the cardholder, blocking the little switch from working correct. Sure the switch is in the up position, like in the picture?

That depends on the type of the SanDisk product.

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.



Memory Sticks have a switch along one side. One position is marked "LOCK", the other position unlocks the card.


MicroSD adapters have a slide switch, just like SD cards.

SOLUTION 1 - Unlock the memory card.

There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.

NOTE: If you are using a microSD/microSDHC card or a miniSD/miniSDHC card, insert the card into the standard SD adapter.


SOLUTION 2 - Toggle the lock switch.

If the lock switch is not on lock:
1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.
3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card.
4. Try to transfer files into the device.

For non-SD cards: Format the card

The data on the memory card may be corrupted.

WARNING: Formatting will delete all the files in the device. Backup all your data before formatting.

Turn off the Device, put the Card out and see there will be a small switch/latch on some site of the card, and there will be stated the Lock/unlock state, if it is locked. change the position according to the description.

There is a little 'lock' switch on the side on the card with a lock symbol. Slide the switch to the unlocked position to unlock your card!
