My Product Key Code does not work on Microsoft Word 2007!

I entered it exactly as it is listed on the back of my hard drive. Yet, when i'm done typing i get f message that tells me the Product Key Code is invalid. Please retype. I even downloaded another FREE 60 day TRIAL and it gave me a Product Key Code when it was done downloading. Guess what? Ya, THAT Product Key Code says "invalid" also. I'm so frustruted. I cannot use Microsoft Word 2007 until I put that Product Key Code box first and then click on continue and then Word comes up. Why can't I get Word to work without this number? Why won't two (2) valid numbers work? Help!

My product key on the back of my hard disk won't work either

  • RM Pro Svcs May 11, 2010

You said you typed it "exactly as listed on the back of my hard drive".

Do you mean you typed the code on the Windows sticker on the back of your computer, or you typed the product key on the sticker on the back of the CD?

Did you purchase Office, or did you use the trial? A purchased boxed copy will have a code on a sticker somewhere in the box.

The code on your "hard drive"... do you mean the code on your computer's case? If so, that is your code for your copy of windows that is installed on it, and it won't work with Office.

If you already used the trial up, installing a new copy won't reset it, and the new code there won't work.

You can purchase it from the Microsoft website: http://office.microsoft.com

If you haven't already purchased it, you could also try the free OpenOffice from www.openoffice.org
This is FREE and you can open, create and save Microsoft Office files with it.

HOW CAN I REPLACE MY PRODUCT KEY?

Note: The following steps involve modification of registry key values, which may corrupt your Windows if done incorrectly. Backup registry first before performing the workaround.
  1. Close all Microsoft Office programs.
  2. Click on Start button, then click on Run.
  3. Type "regedit" (without quotes) in the Run text box, and click OK or press Enter.
  4. Locate and then click the following subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration
Inside, you will find another subkey that resembles the following subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{30120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}
Tip: For user with 64-bit (x64) Windows, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\12.0 instead.
  5. Optional: Backup this registry branch by exporting the Registration subkey to a file, just in case the new product key does not work and you have to restore back the old product key. To export the registry, right click on the Registration subkey and click on Export, and follow the on-screen prompt to enter a file name for the registry file and choose a location to store it.
  6. Under the Registration subkey, there may be several Globally Unique Identifiers (GUID) subkey that contain a combination of alphanumeric characters. Each GUID is specific to a program that is installed on your computer. If you find additional subkeys that reference Microsoft 12.0 registration, then click and open each GUID subkey to view and identify the Office product version by the ProductName registry entry in the right pane. For example:
    ProductName=Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007
  7. After you find the GUID subkey that contains your Office product or program which you want to remove the existing product license key or registration details, delete the following registry entries by right clicking on the registry entry in the GUID subkey, click Delete, and then click Yes: • DigitalProductID
    • ProductID
  8. Exit Registry Editor.
  9. Run or open an Office application program, such as Microsoft Word or Excel or Outlook. Office 2007 will prompt you to enter a new 25-character product key.
  10. Type in the valid and genuine product key, and then click OK.
  11. Then when prompted to choose your preferred type of Microsoft Office 2007 installation, press on "Install Now".
  12. Microsoft Office 2007 will be updated with new product CD key or volume license key, and ready for activation (if it's a non-VLK serial) or use.
Note: If you're having problem with your new Office 2007 product key, simply double click on the backup registry .reg file created at the optional step above to restore the registry settings of the Registration subkey so that the original value can be imported back to the registry.

Option #1. Depending on who your e-mail provider (Yahoo/Hotmail/AOL) the e-mail you are referring to may still be available UNLESS you deleted.

Option #2. When software is loaded on PC/Laptops and the license key is entered to register the product, the key code is written to the hard drive. There is software that can read ALL licenses on a hard drive. Maybe a technician can retrieve the key for you after looking @ your old hard drive?

Option #3. Customer Service @ Microsoft may help? They may have your name on file IF you provided that info?

Option #4. OpenOffice is the FREE office productivity suite. It will read many Microsoft Office files.

You may need to alter or change Microsoft Office 2007 (aka 2007 Microsoft Office System programs and suites) product license key or volume license key (VLK) which also known as serial number or CD key. You can modify or change product key for 2007 Microsoft Office programs or suites by first uninstall or remove Microsoft Office and then reinstalling the business productivity suite. However, you can follow the following steps in order to reset and change the Microsoft Office 2007 product serial key without the need to uninstall or reinstall 2007 Office system suites.

The OS key dont work on Ms Word, Ms Words had and need its own key.
If you know that the key is the one, then you should contact Microsoft, we dont give out or handle keys.

Good luck to you

Hi. 25 character product key for microsoft office home and student edition.............I need it?

If I understand your problem...
You do not have the product key?
Or, are you having problems installing the product key?
If you have a bootleg copy of the software, there is nothing that can be done for you.

You must not have the program installed on other computers.
You must purchase an original Microsoft CD.
No product key is required for the trial period, unless that has changed in Office 2007.
Did you purchase a new computer with office 2007 installed already?
..............
-- If you do have a legal version...
First check and see if your "Caps Lock" is on?
Be absolutely sure that you are entering the registration code EXACTLY as printed, Use CAPITAL LETTERS as printed, and lower case letters as required.
If it still won't work....
Call Microsoft and explain the situation, have a magnifying glass handy to read the tiny engraved lettering in the center of the CD disk.
If you have some kind of sales receipt, or other "Proof of Purchase" have it handy too.
They can create a new product key for you.
This method will only work if you have a legal copy of the program.
