Since this external hard drive is USB powered and felt on the floor, you could have a broken USB connector or interface card, both located inside hard disk case, you should contact Seagate technical support or repair service, or if you have electronics skills, you could open and check hardware by yourself.
Try connecting the drive to a different computer, to see if your computer is the problem.
If necessary, open the external case, and separate the disk-drive from the USB-to-disk-drive adapter.
Connect the disk-drive as a "slave" disk-drive in some computer, to see if the disk-drive itself still can be accessed.
If not, and you have "important" data on the disk-drive, search the Internet for a professional "Data Recovery Service" -- you ship your disk-drive to them, pay them a lot of money, and they repair the disk-drive, just long-enough to copy your files to a brand-new disk-drive.
Plugging in a USB device before installing the driver disk is the most common USB mistake people make. An external hard drive, driver properly installed, looks just like a normal hard drive in 'My Computer'. Use it like a hard drive. If you cannot see it in My Computer when it is plugged in (Go ahead, unplug it and reconnect while My Computer is open) then the driver is loaded wrong. A wrong driver needs to be removed with 'Device Manager', the USB drive DISCONNECTED, the driver reinstalled and the device plugged in at the end or when it is asked for by the installer, not windows (unless it does not have an install disk) Poof, you can see the disk as a hard drive in My Computer. See 'Device Manager' on the Internet for help with this.
this is due to virus or malware. it is possible that it is present in hard disk. whenever you tries to open the file, at that time the virus get activated and creats error.........for this you need to install the latest updated antivirus. but some antivirus are worthless. so i recommend you to use quickheal antivirus and scan the hard disk
