If you've had the sim for a while, its your sim, take it to the store and have them give you a new one, takes but a minute.  They just update your account with the new sim card ID number and your off, if it still doesn't work than its the phone.

I had bought nokia E71 from nokia store and now after 1 odd month it has started showing sim card registration failed followed by insert sim card message on white screen...what could be the problem and i...

Sim card registration failure means that the card in the phone is not being recognized by the service provider as a valid or current account. The service provider is denying service based on the sim card that you are trying to use in your phone. If you have a current and valid account with your cell phone provider then you need to contact them to remedy the problem because something in the registration process has failed. They need to update and/or correct their records to link your account to the sim card in your phone so that your service will work.

When i turn my phone on it comes up with sim card registration failed

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. This is not a problem with the phone. SIM Registration Failed means that the network is not accepting the SIM card for some reason. So you will not be able to place/receive calls at all. Call customer service of the sim card provider. and ensure the activation is ok. Once the activation is done correctly, the towers will accept the SIM card again. If that doesn't work, then you need to tell them to give you another SIM.

Thanks for using Fixya

Sim card registration

No, your handset seems ok. Its related with your SIM card's registration. Have you tried it on some other phone? Try putting the SIM card on another phone. Most probably the validity of your SIM card has expired. Please check with your service provider for re-activation if that is possible. Please let us know how did it go...

Nokia 6300

SIM Card Registration failed, means your SIM card serial number does not exist in your SIM provider's Server.

Generally when a SIM not used for a long period (About 6 months or any fix duration by SIM provider), the company remove that SIM card serial number from server.
In some cases if your SIM is new then it might not be activated by company, so you can ask regarding this the customer care of your SIM provoider.

Thanks
Iqbal
