Question about Belkin (F5D8231-4) Wireless Router (F5D82314)

1 Answer

Belkin 8233 - no routing between hardwire and wireless...

I've connected the notebooks (wirelessly), access to internet - all ok

I've connected my NAS on the hardwired LAN port 1

None of the notebooks see the NAS box.

I've replaced a Linksys with this Belkin....... same configuration works perfect on the Linksys, but not on the Belkin.

Is there a solution or I am sitting on a defective Belkin?

Try to see if file sharing between computers connected to the Belkin is working. If it does not try to update the firmware of the belkin. If it does not work its switching function si defective.

Try to use file sharing between your computers on the belkin. If it does not work then your belkin is defective. Normally problems like this arise if the switching function of the router does not work. The routing works but not the switching. Try also to update the firmware of the belkin

Sounds like it could be a Gateway or DNS issue, is there anywhere you can enter the gateway and DNS addresses in the Belkin Other thing to check is the ADSL modem and the Belkin are not on the same subnet ie. the ADSL modem should not be 192.168.2.X. This is because the Belkin is a router and won't route to addresses in the same subnet

How do i connect ps3 to the internet using a belkin router

Hardwire your PS3 to router or connect it wirelessly by scanning from PS3....
Now hardwire your computer to any of the wired ports of the belkin router....
Goto start>run>type "cmd" >type "ipconfig" note down the default gateway address.....usually it ll be 192.168.2.1
now open any web browser and type the default gateway address in the address bar and hit enter.
In the belkin router set up page
Click FIREWALL and disable it....apply changes
click system setting and enable upnp....apply changes
click virtual servers and open the ports for PS3...and enable it...

that all...you are done with it...
you can also enable DMZ....it ll also resolves the issue....

Trying to connect a wired network wirelessly to a router

No. You'll need to run a "cross-over" Ethernet cable from one of the "LAN" ports on the "downstairs" router, connecting to the "WAN" port on another router that you will need to buy, and place "upstairs", and connect the 4 devices to the 4 "LAN" ports.

Or, run a long "straight-through" Ethernet cable from your DSL-modem (or cable-modem) that is "downstairs", and move your wireless router "upstairs", and connect the 4 devices to the router's "LAN" ports.
Your laptop "downstairs" should still be able to connect (wirelessly) to the wireless-router that is "upstairs".

Trying to create a bridge with two routers

You do not need a bridge if you are using a wireless adaptor on your pc in the other room. Just set up the Belkin Plus router to the WEP security settings you want and make sure the pc wireless usb adaptor has the same settings as the router. You should be good to go. Good Luck.

Macbook loses wireless internet connection

Hi 8233 is a good choice for a router
Here's your solution
1. These steps are to be performed strictly from a computer which is wired.
2.Even if you are using your mac book turn of the airport and connect it via a cable.
3. Open your router setup page by typing in 192.168.2.1 on your browser tab or typing i http://192.168.2.1 in the run window
4.An rsp will open and on the top right hand corner of the screen it will say Internet status:: connected
5.On the left hand side change you"ll see channell under wireless
6. Select it and change it to 6 or 11 for best signal strength
7.Now to the most important segment 8233 has a piculiar issue with its extra strong security
8.On the left hand side under wireless you"ll will see an option called wi-fi protected setup
9.Select it and turn it off reboot router and wow the problem should definately be resolved .
Then turn on airport and go wireless along with your wife.
10. You will still be secure with your data through security option on your router (wep or wpa )whatever you use .
Thank you and just let me know if it worked or not

Securing a wireless connection

To secure your wireless connection, do you mean by
1. Encryption using WEP or WAP
2. MAC address filtering on your wireless card
3. Disabling SSID broadcast.
If so you need to configure your wireless settings using Internet Explorer, the URL would be http://192.168.2.1 (check the config. TCP/IP address in your manual)
