Questions that I have to ask.
Did you make restore disks when you first bought the Machine or software?
Did you make your backups on the machine you are using?

I normally have to go to a factory reset, and reload programs and saved files. I have had this machine 5 months, I gripe like hell when my old software does not run, after it has updated. Factory settings allow me to run old software.

I am using Windows Vistra Home Predium with Service Pak 1 and Service Pak 2.

You cannot as Vistra runns on a dating system. I got Pak2, and then a week later Pak1. It took nearly took about two hous to load Pak1 with several reboots along the way. Then Pak2 disapeared from the update history, This mechine updates on a daily basis, and it is hard keeping track on which program is doing what. Restore points are useful if you want to keep your files and programs. I have never bothered to make a full system backup. I just backup files that I need,

The error may be with the file or the software you are using to open it. Try download a fresh copy of adobe reader and try copying the file again and opening it again.

That will typically mean that the backup software was trying to backup a file that was deleted sometime between when the initial index of all the files was made and when the actual file was to be backed up. This typically happens with temporary files or files in a browser cache or similar. If you were using your machine at the time of the backup, it is even more likely to occur. I would suggest you look at the log file and see exactly what file(s) wasn't backed up.
