Question about Dell Printers & Copiers

Unable to print from the internet using dell printer 948

I am able to print from my document files but not from the internet. The computer and printer is only 1 month old. Dell stated it was a software problem and could resolve for $69.00. Today is the first time I have attempted to print from the internet. Please advise. Thank you.

    Try looking at the printer properties (Start-Printers and Faxes). Which icon has the black and white check mark? That is the default printer. It should not be the Adobe, Microsoft Office Document Image Writer, Intuit Internal Printer, etc. An example would be "Dell Photo AIO Printer 964" or similar. If it doesn't have the check mark, right click on it and choose "Set as Default Printer". You can also test this by opening any web page, click on "File" in the far upper left corner, choose "Print...Ctrl + P" and see what printer is listed at the top of the dialog box. You can use the drop down list to choose the right printer if the wrong one is listed as default.

We had a similar problem that the printer could not print online content (see here).
Turned out to be a Windows firewall problem and reinstalling the software solved the problem.

Just to make sure: open your firewall settings (Start->Control Panel->Windows Firewall) and disable it.
If you can print now form the internet, you found the culprit.
The easiest way to solve this problem is to either re-install the printer software and open the ports or look into your printer manual and find the information about necessary ports that have to be opened.

Most likely, this document was already in the print queue and never got printed. If that's the case, open notepad, enter the following commands : net stop spooler
del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.shd
del %systemroot%\system32\spool\printers\*.spl
net start spooler

Save this to your desktop as DeletePrintJob.cmd, run as administrator (right click on it, select run as administrator), then reboot your pc/powercycle the printer. This should resolve your issue. If not, please let me know.

Don't worry... you just have to delete the previous print job.

Go to start menu...
Control Panel...
Printers and Faxes...

Find your printer and double click...

This should show you the pending document to print...
Right click and delete that job and any other pending jobs...

If it is not deleting... try using the "Use printer offline" mode in the menu.
Again delete. This time it should work.

Dell 948 printer- won't print in black and white


I had this problem. It's actually very easy to fix:

- Click Print -> Properties
- Go to "Advanced" tab
- "More options"
- Deselect "Use color cartridge for all black printing"
- Select "Use black cartridge to print black and white"
- Click "Ok"

You should be able to select the "Print in black and white" option now and stop all the frustration!

Dell 948 printer printing not finishing print jobs


Your printer loose documents:try to reset it ,unplug for an hour.
Or you might have interferences on your wireless :DECT phone, cell phone, or even an electric device who doesn't work propely, like tv, stove, speakers many things can parasites your connection...
If nothing does your printer as issues, think replacement...

hi,
u need to have wireless internet connection, first uninstall the printer sw, while reinstalling choose wireless install, follow inst, connect the printer, configure wireless adapter by choosing the correct wireless nw and by entering the security key(WEP, WPA), if wireless adapter not detected then, unplug all cables from back of printer,removed wirless adapter, press power button for 20 secs without any cables connected, connect cables, restart printer, connect the wireless adapter, u will get msg nw card detected, then try reconfiguring by entering the correct keys, in case if u dont know the security key contact ur internet service provider, once correct details are entered it will configure successfully, unplug usb cable from printer and pc, install printer sw, issue resolved, if there is no communication then check the firewall settings, anything relating to printer give full access, restart pc, try printing,

ps: if usb cable is connected to printer the nw card will be disabled.
