Is it asking for PIN? If so, this is your security number you entered when you got the GPS. If you can't remember it, take the GPS back to the 'security location' you entered. It will automatically unlock and you can reset the PIN.

Most Garmin GPS systems have to be plugged in at all times when your using them. Call Garmin or just go online to their webpage and ask for technical support.

Garmin nuvi 205 free unlock code

Probably one of the most asked questions on Fixya about a Garmin GPS.

Garmin added the PIN lock feature to deter thieves from stealing a GPS. If the PIN code could be easily resettable, then the feature would be pointless.

First, ask your friend what the PIN is. If he can remember his credit card PIN, he should be able to come up with a couple of possible numbers to unlock the unit.

Otherwise, you have (2) choices:

1. Go to the location where your friend set up the PIN and turn on the unit. The unit will not ask for the PIN. This is known as the "safe" location.

2. Contact Garmin and pay whatever fee they charge to unlock it, however be warned... if the unit is stolen and has been reported as stolen, you may get a visit by law enforcement.

More information about PIN locking can be found here:

My dauther was playing with my garmin nuvi 2360 now its asking for a pin? I never set one up and I dont see any default codes in my paperwork or manuel?

When you first used your GPS, it asked you for a safety location. Take the unit back to this safety location and it will unlock, you can then reset the PIN code. If not, send it back to Garmin with the original receipt from an authorized Garmin dealer and, for a service charge, they will reset the PIN code.

How do i unlock my garmin?

I am assuming that it is asking for pin code before it can be used. You need to enter the security code that was originally entered. The code prevents the unit from being used if it is stolen and the code can only be rest by calling Garmin and it may have to be sent in for repair. They will require proof of ownership. I will attach a link to Garmin support.

Hi I have a GARMIN WHere2 since I got a rental car from AVIS but it suddenly asked me for a PIN CODE? Could you please support me with this?

Hello,

The Garmin
Lock (anti-theft feature) security feature has been activated.
Going back to the security location will unlock the unit but in order to reset the pin code, the original pin code must be input.
You may want to call the rental company and ask them for the pin code.
To unlock the unit, it must be sent back to Garmin.

Garmin 660 sat nav

I would take it back and demand a new one or replacement one. Some how someone must of you your serial number to register there, and now garmin seem to think that yours is stolen. Even though it is not. Garmin will lock the unit if a product gets, stolen and if someone else will try to update.

I forgot my pin numbrer for garmin 205w. is there anyway to bypass security code

Unfortunately, even if you perform master reset on Garmin GPS unit, it does not reset Garmin Lock security feature, which password-protect most Garmin electronic devices to deter theft. If you forget the PIN or password unlock code to unlock the Garmin unit, the best solution is to bring it to Garmin to get unlocked. “Secure Location” does not unlock a locked Garmin unit either as it’s only a temporary fix as when it’s turn on outside the security location, the device is locked again."
So unfortunately, there is only one option: You have to send your nüvi into the Garmin, who can unlock it. Remember original receipt.

GARMIN LOCK

Hello!

Place your thumb nail in the groove located under the Garmin logo on the bezel.

Gently pull off the faceplate.

Press the reset button.

If it still asks for a code and you don't have it, it should ask you to drive to a secret location to unlock the device. If you don't know the location, the only other option you have is to send the unit to Garmin to be unlocked. You can also try to call Garmin with the serial number and see if they can do something less annoying to unlock it.

My Garmin 780 asking for a unlock code

Your only options for unlocking a PIN locked Garmin are:

1 - Enter the correct PIN
2 - Take the unit to the location at which the PIN was originally entered
3 - Send the unit back to Garmin.
