Question about Televison & Video
I have a philips magnavox projection big screen tv and all of a sudden the picture went out. we have sound but no picture just a black screen. what could have caused it and how much am i looking at for repair or can it be done without a tech. it's a philips magnavox projection tv, model number 7p6041 c101 chasis ptv780-ah01
Try checking some of the tunning and coupling capacitors around the horizontal section as well for some crystalized solder joints in that area.

This unit does not have bulbs it has tubes.What is happening is the coolant fluid in the picture tubes is contaminated with a fungus( blue and green).A repair shop should be able to fix this problem for about $250.I do not recomend fixing this problem youself,but when it is fixed this unit will look like new

It is the coolant that has allergy growing in the blue and green guns, it will not grow in the red gun. If you have the coolant change it will look just like a new TV, right now the video is being block, and kind of on the greenish looking. It should run about two to have the coolant changed in the guns (CRTs).
