Temperature Display My wife put our Whirlpool oven in cleaning mode and pushed some buttons to get it started. After the cleaning cycle was done the Temperature Mode went from Fahrenheit to Celcius scale. I have a conversion chart next to the stove but would like to know how to get it back to Fahrenheit.

If the oven display is showing LOC, then the lockout feature was enabled. Press and hold the key pad with the padlock symbol for 3+ seconds. This is just below the Timer On/Off key pad and to the right of the Light key pad. You should see the word DOOR and the padlock icon flash until the door is unlocked and the control panel is released.

If the word DOOR and the padlock icon are lit, then the oven is in the self-clean mode. The lock should release after you cancel the self-cleaning cycle by pressing off and the oven cools down (at least one hour). Unfortunately, sometimes the heat of the self-clean cycle will damage the oven. Either the oven temperature sensor will not give the release signal or the door lock will not disengage. In that case, the oven needs to have the correct part serviced.

This blank display is a common control board problem. If the buttons beep when pressed, then the control board is getting adequate power. If the buttons beep.. and your oven light still turns on when the oven door is open.. this a text book control board failure. Look for the button marked "Precise Clean" in the upper left corner of the control panel.

Press and hold this button for five seconds until the display reads "Temperature Unit Celsius.

Release the button and push it again for another five seconds until the display shows "Temperature Unit Fahrenheit."

Push the "Off/Cancel" button to lock in the Fahrenheit setting.

you may have done a panel lock, so try the first solution.

To Lock/Unlock Control: Before locking, make sure the ovens, Timer and Timed Cooking are off. Press and hold START/ENTER until a single tone sounds and "Loc," a picture of a lock and "START?" will appear on the oven display, about 5 seconds. Repeat to unlock and remove "Loc" from display.

To Stop Self-Clean any time:
Press UPPER OFF, LOWER OFF or OFF/CANCEL. If the oven temperature is too high, the door will remain locked. It will not unlock until the oven cools.

During the cleaning cycle, there was a temp sensor malfunction that may have damaged the temp sensor. this is a common occurrence with this model. this is refereed to as a runaway temperature code. the sensor lost control of the cleaning cycle and it got to hot. the temp sensor is fried and it will need to be replaced.

Error E3-F3 says that the Oven temperature is too high(Clean mode).You might have to replace the Oven Temperature Sensor(RTD).

had same problem, had computer checked out by profesisonal. Was ok. But it seems it is the control pad that clean cycle screws up. Try this (thanks to my wife and her experimental prowess). 1. turn oven on to custom broil. 2. push down temp button to 375. 3. press bake button. 4. You should now have up or down temp. We think you have to get past pre heat cycle in order for this to work. But work it does.
