Quite a few laser printers have a toner save button to conserve toner. That will cause light prints. The printer driver also has these settings. Check them also.

The black print on my Dell 1320C laser printer is very light (grey) in fact. I replaced the black toner at no avail. The other colors are fine.what can I do to soulve the problem. ...

It sound like you have either a very low toner density set, which would normally be set either through the control panel or the driver, or possibly the Dell Toner conservation system turned on. Here is Dells owners manual info on dealing with light print.
The toner cartridges may be low or need to be replaced. Confirm the amount of toner in each toner cartridge.
  1. Press [Printer Status], and then click the Status tab in the printer driver.
Ensure Non-Dell Toner is not selected in the Printer Maintenance tab in the Tool Box.
  1. Click the Tool Box button.
Set Toner Saving Mode to Off in the printer driver.
  1. Press [Printing Preferences], and then click the Advanced tab.
If you are printing on an uneven print surface, change the paper type setting in the printer driver. For example, change the plain paper to thick.
  1. Press [Printing Preferences], and then click the Paper Tray tab.
Verify that the correct print media is being used.
  1. See "Print Media Sizes and Support".
Ensure that eight yellow ribbons are correctly removed from the PHD (Print Head Device) unit.
  1. See "Replacing the PHD (Print Head Device) Unit" and "Installing the PHD Unit".
Ensure that the developer motor starts.
  1. Contact Dell.
Ensure that the dispense motor starts.
  1. Contact Dell.
When you are printing many images with low density, do the Toner Refresh Mode.
  1. Click the Tool Box button.
  2. Press the Start button to check the density of colors.
  3. If the print is too light, Select Refresh Mode from the list. Press the Start(1)-(4) buttons.
CAUTION: Using the Refresh Mode consumes extra toner.
  1. After you complete the Refresh Mode, select Chart Print from the list. Press the Print with A4(3) or Print with Letter(C) button for 4 Colors Configuration Chart. "Printing" appears.
    Is the problem recovered?

Dell 3100n keeps saying "Change Black Toner" even

Before installing a new toner, put a disposable towel over the ink toner exit, and shake your toner lightly back and forth and up and down. Make sure your toner cartridge is in the open position before replacing it in your printer.

If you are using a refillable ink cartridge, make sure you are resetting the cartridge using the method described by the refillable manufacturer.

If this does not answer your question please request more information before voting on my answer. I will try to find more information about your toner cartridge that will help you futher.

hi there

thats an expensive printer -- you desrev some answers, direct from their techsupport
The printer is new, you should get in contact with Dell, as its under warranty
if dell has inconvenienced you that much, i would ask for free toner cartridge or something of value to compensate : they usally do that for customers

review the firmware information for the printer , see if you have the latest version, if not go to this link to download

Dell 5110cn, says change magenta toner, crum 093-961. canged toner. still has same display

Your Toner Dispenser TF123 could be bad. It is probably not reading the chip on the Toner.
Or possibly you are using the wrong toner. Dell 5100 or Xerox 6300 looks similar and might fit. Also, if you are using 3rd party toner, check that they have caused your problem.

Dell 3110cn Color Laser Printer Certain colors will not adhere to the page when printed on heavy paper. Combination of green/black wipes off the paper when rubbed.

Either the paper is just too thick for the printer to fuse the toner correctly, or you've NOT selected the right paper type (in the printer driver options.

If you're just printing that same as you would on ordinary A4 paper, the fuser can't get enough heat through the thick paper to fuse the toner.

May be a wrong toner problem if you've done this successfully before, but only had this problem since changing toner cartridge(s)

Toner light flashing althougth I have changed the toner and was shaking it before I inserted it..

Toner should be carefully inserted into the Place where it resides.

Improper installation makes this light flashing.

Stpes to be done :

01. Remove the toner gently from the toner drive.

02. Shut down PC and the Dell Printer.

03. Re boot the machine and the Dell Printer.

04. Ensure Power and network cable is installed properly.

05. Use only genuine and Dell Authorized toners in the Printer. Clean the place with nice white cloth with cleaning liquid.

06. Now you can take a test print out.

07. Still the problem persists, please call Printer Service engineer to solve the issue.

Recently changed the black toner cartridge in the Dell 3110cn printer. This past week when I print the entire page is being printed with a shade of gray. I think the toner cartridge has leaked toner and...

This could be a drum problem, the drum is part of the toner cartridge in this printer.

If the toner has leaked it will be all over the inside of the printer - you'll see it. I don't think that's the problem.

If the toner cartridge is an original Dell item, then it's likely to be replacable under warranty.

If the cartridge is a remanufactured item, it may be that the wrong toner has been used. Toner is NOT all the same, and this cartridge is one whe the wrong toner really will not work properly for long.

The chances are the changing the toner cartidge will cure the problem, provided you use an original Dell item, or a remanufactured item from a reputable manufacturer.

Pages full of toner / toner streaking

First off, this is a comment from a random person who may or may not know ALOT about these printers and toner/printer design in general. All toners are not designed to the same specification. Toner is a combination of plastic "pigment" and iron like shavings to make it magentically attracted to the electrical charges within the unit. Different toners conform to different grades and mainly size of the particles within the blend. The manufacturer doesnt only recommend that you use their toner to make them money, yes of course it makes money, but its because when the unit is designed it is designed to use a certain grade of toner, trust me if you put the non-branded toner vs the branded toner under a microscope you would see quite a difference. Often the non-branded toner is much larger in particle size (obviousely because its cheaper to make at this spec). This causes a variety of issues from excess toner not being cleaned off of developer rollers, IDT rollers, or clogging of toner dispenser tubes in the unit and the micro filters contained at the toner dispenser assy and developer assys. Also as for the issue not changing when switching to dell branded toner - the dispenser tubes within this unit contain up to 500-1000 pages worth of toner, making no change in toner you make immediately visible. Also depending on the damage caused by the previous toner, it may not be able to be fixed until all the components in between the toner and final delivery (drum cart) are replaced. In this case more than likely the toner dispenser assy, all developer assy's, and drum cartridge need to be replaced, and than be sure to stick with factory branded toner :)
