Thinkpad 1952 comes up with a Thinkpad T60,

Thinkpad 195243U comes up with a Thinkpad T60 also.

Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T60 series of Notebook PC.

IF the above holds to be true,

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/landing.page?

Go down to the middle, and subheading -
Reference Documents

In the list underneath click on - User Guides

Under the subheading - Guides and Manuals, in the red banner; click on - Installation and User Guide

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guides-and-manuals/detail.page?DocID=UM010582

Read the instructions.
Under the heading - ThinkPad Series, go down to - T60, T60p
Scrolling across there are three blue - Download - listed.
Look up at the top of the chart, and click on the one correct for the Windows operating system you are using.

Slow scrolling

Scrolling on-line? off-line? If on-line, i would suggest it's the website/internet. If off-line try shutting down unnessary programs running in background. Is your CPU or Memory running high? Open Task Manager, Performance? Open Applications or Processes to see what is using all your resourses, end processes that are unnessary

What do i do if the restore afctory settings do not pop up on my ibm thinkpad laptop

Try this first ... You might have some viruses and malware.

Start your PC and press F8 several times until the boot menu comes up. Then select "Safe Mode with Networking". Now get some or ALL of the FREE programs below.

Download, Install and Run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

When Installing choose the non-pro version.

Download, Unzip, Install and Run TDSSKiller:

Download, Install and Run Super Anti-Spyware:

If you have an outdated Anti-virus program then Download, Install and Run Avira Anti-Virus:

My disks are DVD-RW and want tp use them over gain and don't know how. Also when do I finalise then and what for

For RW discs, you need to reformat them to reuse them. For your laptop, you should see a format option if you right click on the DVD icon when you have the File Explorer open to Computer (My Computer). (This assumes that the computer has a DVD writer.)

Finalizing the disc enables the contents of the disc to be read on other DVD players. (This isn't always an issue. For example, a disc burned with WinXP should be readable for a computer with Windows 7 without finalizing. However, if the disc was burned by a DVD player, the contents will not be accessible on any other units without being finalized.)

If the disc has been finalized, you need to take another step before reformatting the RW disc. Put the disc in the unit that initially finalized it. Then look for an Unfinalize option. Then format the disc again. (I've never used this feature on my computer. It's easily accessed on my DVD recorder in the same section of the submenu as finalizing the disc.)

I hope this helps.

Thinkpad R40 slow to boot, very slow in all other aspects. It can take close to a minute to just open Windows Explorer.

Hello bd35,
Welcome to Fixya!
When you say "slow to boot, very slow in all other aspects." There is a change that your computer might have been infected with a virus. But let's not jump into conclusions, I'm just setting proper expectation here that that can be a cause.
You might want to consider: - Disconnecting extra peripheral devices i.e. printers, scanners, USB flash drives or ext. HDDs - Disabling all the start-up items and services, here's how: 1. Click "Start" 2. Click "Run" 3. Type "msconfig" 4. Go to the "Startup" tab and click the "Disable All" button 5. Go to the "Services" tab, check the "Hide all Microsoft services" check box, and click on the "Disable All" button 6. Click the "Apply" button, and the click "Ok" button. 7. Then "restart the computer.

I have an IBM THINKPAD R51 type 2887 and it runs slow. I have a 40 gig hard drive and 1gb of ram (which I bought and made a monster difference at fist) but now when download anything or install and...

As yur computer is running slow their are possible reasons that may be your system infected by viruses for which we need to do system scan and we have also to chec what all programmes are installed in your computer or second reason may be osme hardware faulty.

For installation of office it can be installed from www.microsoft.com and you can either install tril or download full version other then that you can also install open office from sun microystem from www.openoffice.org

Slow performance

Hey,

The reformat should help you, but there maybe a problem with the hard drive and its causing the lock ups.

and looking at the spesifications of this laptop, I would recommend to upgrade the ram.

you can download process explorer and see what is eating the resources

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse
