I've always kept matched chips in consecutive slots but I don't think it really matters if they are all the same type of RAM just different size. Hope this helps.

If there's a slot it will be on the side of the unit. If the computer already has it internally, there will be no slot if you dodn't configure it with that option.

Cannot find the second memory slot on toshiba satellite 1900-203

They are one above the other. So if you remove the RAM which is installed you will see the second slot one step below that. They are staggered like a step ladder.

I currently Have I Gig of Ram. I am trying to install 2 x 1 Gig of Matched Ram in the Correct slots but the computer will not boot up with 2 sticks of Ram. If I take either one out it boots up fine

What slots you put the RAM into can make a difference - Assuming you have more than 2 slots, try staggering the RAM placement so there's an empty slot between the 2 RAM sticks. You'd have to look up your motherboard model online to see what specific instructions there are.

Instaling 2x1G ram. already have 1G and 512G sticks in place. beeping and no startup. wtf

remove the 512s and try again, try each stick one by one. make sure that your using the correct slots on the motherboard as module slots with differnt colors often mean that the modules in those slots need to be be the same spec, not nessesarly the same manufactur.

I would like to add memory to my acer 5315 notebook. I have taken the panel off the back, but I don't know where to put the new RAM in. I can only find how to replace memory, not to add more.

The ram location is right where you are looking. There are two memory slots available for ram. They are staggered one on top of the other. Release the side pins and the module will pop up at a 45 degree angle . Pull the module out in the direction and replace at that angle, then push the module down in place. You may only have one memory slot filled at this time, Therefore there would be an empty slot to fill.

Is memory matched (DDR2 667)

Have you put original mem in slot 2

Download / install CPU-Z with both modules in and run program to see if it shows.

If all above is correct may be damaged mobo.

This is for your laptop from vendors site.

P5RD2-VM recognises only 2 GB

Hi,
According to Asus, the max supported memory is 2 gig. That second stick of 512 is not needed and the error shown is in memory configuration.
