Xerox workcentre m20i scan to hard drive?

Is it possible to have the m20i scan the file directly to the hard drive of the computer it is hooked up to, or do you have to use the e-mail as output?

To store the scanned files straight to the hard disk you need to change settings on your scanner software.

Open the scanner software utility, and find oftions or settings, in there you should find destination folder settings, and chose to store files to hard drive instead of sending them by email.

I can be more specific if you tell me what scanning software you are using.

Give us feedback on your problem.

Thanks.

Yes you can do this when you scan the file should either open a save dialogue box or it will open the document automatically. In the save dialogue box you can switch where it will be saved by clicking either the save to or browse option. If the document automatically opens click the file menu and click save as and then go to the location you would like to save the file too.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

To my understanding, email is only one of the outputs of the scanner. One is as you would want, save as a jpeg file. The scanning program would have to be instructed to saved the scanned image to a specific folder which normally would be in "My Documents / My Pictures" if you are suing Windows or in some instances a pre-designated folder for scanned images.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

LSU error displayed on Xerox M20i

LSU stands for Laser Scanner Unit. It comes up only if you are trying to access scanner services like scanning a document, using fax or simple scanning.

If it's coming continuously you might need to check connectors within the scanner. Best way is to call a technician from Xerox or take it to their store.

How can I scan a document into the WorkCentre M20i so that it is emailed as a word document and not a PDF doc. When we scan a document it is emailed as a PDF document.

You can not email documents on word format directly fromt he device.
PDF and image formats such as tiff and jpeg are the only formats you can scan.
A word document is a raw document that as been modified and formated by a specific text processor, in this case MS office. And the decive does not contain this processing capabilities.

How to change the default scan resolution on M20i?

You need to go to the printers webpage from your Web Browser http://192.168.1.100 or something like that. Then, go into Properties tab, and then the Services Dropdown. Under that, go into Email Settings and then Email Setup. Change your DPI to as high as 600dpi, then scroll to the bottom and hit save. You'll be prompted for a password which is either Admin / 1111 or 11111 / x-admin

Xerox M20i scan to e-mail

You can not scan with a M20i with an Ethernet cat 5 cable. It can ONLY be done via a USB or parallel cable.

If you don't believe me, which many on here wont accept the truth, here is the note from the Xerox documentation..

The WorkCentre can scan a document via Direct Scanning using a USB or Parallel Port connection only.
