The BIOS battery is on your motherboard. It looks like a watch battery. Easy to identify and remove. The power jack, while you have your case open look to see if your jack you are talking about is souldered to your motherboard or is a card. Let me know.

Hp pavillion dv6 how to disable administrator and power up passwords

Hi, there is a small "watch battery" inside your pc that retains your Bios settings. !!Unplug your PC and hold down the power button for 10 seconds before opening your tower!!! Remove the side panel, locate the battery that's roughly the size of a quarter, remove it for 30 seconds or so, push the power button with it still unplugged and the battery removed. that should remove your troublesome password.
Replace your battery and side panel, plug it back in, and power up... I believe you can access your Bios options for an HP by pressing F11 prior to Windows boot.

Pavillion zv5000 won't boot

Hello. The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty. If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem. The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable. If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.Hope this helps.

Hp pavilion ze1210 intermittently boots up or will not turn on at all.

ok it's a laptop., old.
let me guess 2003 made, square 4:5 screen
XP removed, (smart idea) Linux installed.
I guess the screen is 100% dead, not one pixel ever glows, right?
no text, ,no BIOS screens on demand, (esc key pressed, power on)

1: step 1 is always remove the main big battery. run now?
2: try external VGA screen yet, to see if the old internal screen is dead? see that VGA jack on the rear, and the hot function key that turns it on, bingo.?
(use a flash light to see if screen internal has data but the
CCFL back lamp is dead.?)
4: if bios is dead and both screens fail, what is next.?
19vdc from the power pack must reach the guts (MOBO)
if not all HP lap tops die. use a voltmeter or get a spare power pack
many power packs this old are now bad. 14 years old,
the can be good, bad, or weak. weak is bad.
5: sparks is a bad thing, in all cases, when heard it needs service.

Why is my hp pavillion 7915 shutting itself off after a few seconds?

Remove the main battery and try again, have the power supply tested, if okay the DC jack in the laptop is a major source of trouble from no power to intermittent shutdown, in some cases the jack needs to be replaced.

1. Remove the battery pack from the laptop.
2. Remove the real-time clock (RTC) battery
3. Wait approximately 5 minutes.
4. Replace the RTC battery and reassemble the computer. Do not put the battery pack back in yet.
5.Connect AC power to the computer.
6.Turn on the computer. All passwords and all CMOS settings have been cleared.
