Purchased a 4 year extended warranty thru Best Buy where purchased. Two weeks after warranty up, over Christmas started noticing problem, over next week, appeared to be more prevalent when using DVD surround system.(Yamaha DVX-S60). Disconnected DVD player and installed Toshiba SD-K860 DVD player from our bedroom, same problem.
It has gotten so bad that when we try to watch a DVD now, after show playing for short time, the darker areas of picture have been taken over mostly with red, and the frame outside picture area is red. On just regular TV programs, it is not as prevelant but still noticable that something isn't right.

If you were to put an all white image on the screen, would there be evidence of this red color in the picture? If so, its likely that the light engine has gone bad. One or more of the LCD panels inside has been damaged by the heat from the lamp. This is an expensive part to replace. It never hurts to contact the manufacturer for assistance.

Manufacturer warranty is typically 1 year limited parts. This means if a hardware, NOT software goes bad within 1 year of purchase date you can contact acer to get a RMA number and ship them the laptop for a part replacement. This does not cover accidental damage, ie you drop the laptop, split something on it or drop something on it.
Places like best buy will sell two types of extended warranties, and are typically 3 years. The cheaper will cover the same thing as the manufacturer but for 3 years. They also sell a more expensive warranty which will cover accidental damage as well. None of these warranties will cover acts of god, theft or software problems
These extended warranties will be the same thing if purchased from acer or any other computer retailer. Also sometimes they are longer periods of time like 5 years.

Hi, If standby red light is blinking on tv front that means tv got some internal problem, since tv is new so would be under warranty, call Best Buy or number written on tv documents and ask warranty cover. Any attempt to fix tv by yourself will void warranty. Let me know if you have additional question. Thanks.
Keep talking to the factory, it is their product. Best Buy won't replace unless it is deemed not repairable and/or terms of the contract. You purchased the extra warranty because you most have felt that the TV might break down. Well, it did, now use the contract to repair your TV.
