Cant get my computer to recognize my SprintScan 4000

I purchased a SprintScan 4000 in 2002. I connected it and used it to test it and it worked. Since, I have a new computer and have recently decided to start using the scanner. I have the SCSI host adapter in the new computer and am working with Windows XP. I have tried to download new drivers and/ Scanvue which is what Polaroid recommended. I can not get the computer to recognize the scanner. Lights go on and it pulls in the film as before but somehow the computer does not see any of it. Could it be the cord? Could it be the host adapter (purchased in 2002) The compouter says that it is working fine. I would appreciate any help. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

The scanner uses a "twain" driver, try searching for that, it may be one of the files you already downloaded. Just look in the download u got. Also try going to add hardware, select the scanner there and poit it to the downloaded file when uit asks if you have a disk that came with it. Download the drivers to your desktop, rt click and open a folder on the desktop, and drag all of the drivers and the Twain one especially, into the folder.

The start button on my N1220U scanner no longer initiates a program. I have attempted numerous solutions.

You have to decide how much trouble you are willing to put into this problem. At this point you have deleted and reloaded the software and drivers, which is the most typical fix. The self test says it is functional but it does not physically test a bad switch. A replacement of this same model sells for under $30, including shipping, on ebay. CNET reports a release date of June 10, 2002. It may be time to move on since it cannot be repaired for the cost of a replacement.

My Epson 4180 scanner will not turn on. I tested the power supply and it is O.K. Frank

Ascertain that the computer recognizes scanner connection. For example, once ascertained the device connections to circuits been attained, trace the connections to the computer also from where programs should recognize the new feature required. Usually scanners turn on from computer programs. Once click activated would power on scanner ready to capture picture graph displays.

When i plug in my u.are.u 4000 sensor into my computer, the computer does not even recognise the device. How can i get the computer to recognise it?

DigitalPersona u are U 4000 is obsolate never the less (not supported any longer), you can still use it.
1. Uninstall the former one that you installed then Download the new driver at http://www.digitalpersona.com/support/downloads/software-updates/reader-driver-dp0002003/
2. While installing supply 16digit number where you are being asked. e.g. type 1234567890123456 this will actually make your scanner to work. It will sensor the scanner. You will see the light blue blinking or red light blinking while you are scanning.
3. If you happen to be in Nigeria, you have to get a license before you can use it on jamb website.

I hope this work, if not contact me on 08132829820.

I will love to help. If my solution work for you don't forget to send me mail. I will love to have a testimony.

Connecting old IBM color flatbed scanner to new computer

Not likely to work reliably if you get it to work.
The parallel port must be set to communicate in both directions. The SUB to Parallel adapter may be a ONE-WAY communications device.

Get a new (or used) Epson scanner or Epson all-in-one ($50) which includes a scanner and printer! Your new computer may not have the proper drivers for your old IBM scanner, anyway. If you purchase an Epson all-in-one, get a "WorkForce" model - that's their latest product line.
