Question about Kenmore 44102 Front Load Washer

Worried about winter storage

I purchased washer 48102 and dryer 88042 for my summer place. I live in New England. I am wondering if the freezing temperatures will ruin these appliances. I realize I will have to winterize the washer, but I am more worried about the computer controls. These are brand new and I need reassurance that they will survive freezing weather.

    Thanks "clarkco"

These appliances will only be used from Spring to Fall. If I am understanding your answer I am feeling confident about installing them there.

This is a wonderful site. I didn't even know it existed. Thanks Again

Extreme low temperature may effect the operation of the electronics, but unless you plan of using them in a freezing environment there will be no ill effects from the cold. These units are shipped in unheated trailers all over and routinely are exposed to freezing temperatures.

Thanks for using Fix Ya, please take the time to give this solution a Fix Ya rating.

I just got a new boat this summer and I live in Seattle, where I will use my boat year round. I have been told that I should winterize the motor so it doesn't freeze in the lower temperatures. What should...

I used to live in the Chicago area. We definitely had winter (below zero).I went thru extensive winterization for the inboards and stern drives. I fogged outboards and put Sta-bil in the gas. I also ran the gas out of the carbs or drained them but the boats would sit unused for 6 months. Does the boat stay in the water? If on a trailer, lower the motor so it is in the run (trim down) and the water will run out. If you tilt it up after this for storage, cover the gear case as it can fill with rain water and freeze.

Does the 2006 toyota camry require special windshield fluid or will water do?

washer fluid had cleaning agent to keep your windshield clean and clear. water will not and will freeze up in the winter time if you live in the cold area.

Washer location

Not advisable. Garage area would need to stay above freezing temp., and dryer performance will be poor at best if intake air is below 50 F. If you are not doing a lot of laundry, you can use a combo unit. (washer and dryer in one unit. LG makes one, others must also) They are slow, as the dryer is only 120 volt, and dryer does not work well with over a half load, but they also do not require an outside vent, and only require room for one unit, instead of a seperate washer and dryer.

Freezer doesn't freeze in winter?

Domestic refrigerators nowadays are designed not to operate at temperatures less than 45 degrees. First, if it's 45 degrees in the house, people probably are not living there. 2nd, 45 degrees keeps food refrigerated. 3, if people are not living in a space, then they don't need to keep frozen food.

This is a result of the changes in refrigerants we've been going through since 1992.
If you want an outdoor freezer, buy one, and make sure it's designed to be used in a non conditioned space.

What oil type do I use...2003 vw beetle?

if U live in a cold climate use 5W-30W, if u live in a moderate climate with hot summers use 10W-30W, any name brand meets your engines requirements. Do not use any oils heavier than these two, it can cause engine bearing damage.
