Sidekick 3: System crash and big X, won't start up

When I turn on my phone it reads:

SYSTEM CRASH @10007F54: EVT1 and earlier versions are not supported.

This shows up on the icon screen and won't move past this. There is also a big red X through the screen also.

I have tried a hard restart and taking the battery out. I have called the techs at T-mobile and I do not have a warranty.

Please help!!!!

HOW TO DO A MASTER RESET ON A SIDEKICK 3 NOTE: Performing this will restore your device back to factory defaults, meaning you'll loose everything on your sidekick!
1. Remove the battery and the SIM card from the device. 2. Flip the sidekick open; press and hold the letter 'r' on the keypad. 3. While holding the letter 'r', place the battery back in the device. DO NOT INSERT THE SIM CARD YET. 4. The sidekick will restart itself twice. Please make sure not to let the letter 'r' go until it has fully rebooted. 5. Once it has fully rebooted, remove the battery, re-insert the SIM card and battery and power up the device. 6. Once the device has fully rebooted, all prior information should be erased from the device and it should be restored back to the default factory settings.

Why i cannot restart my E63 after install flipfont software & also crashed my system???

1. Since this problem has caused your system to crash, you will need to reset your phone. Only a hard reset is necessary in this case. Note that before you reset the phone make sure you back up all your information, as this reset erases everything on the phone and makes it brand new. Now remove your memory card, and turn on your phone. Simply dial: *#7370# It will demand for a security code; put in this code - 12345 , then ok. The phone will restart, while the reset takes place. Once this is done your new security code will be 12345.

check t-mobile support for firmware update.

If you can't get one from tmobile support you will most likely have to send this one in for service.

Sidekick 3 system crash

ok the exacct same thing happened to my phone... what i did was i kept taking out the battery, and seeing if my phone would work. there r few things that can happen everytime you take out the battery aand put it back in:
-it will show the menu button (the bottom left button on your phone) in black and white
-itll show the red x again
-the backlight might or might not turn on
-itll start up and work normally
these things will happen everytime u restart ur phone affterwards, and, usually, ur phone, even if it starts up, will go really slowly and eventually freeze, forcing u to repeaat the battery cycle.

after a while, it became worse, but, after fdoing thte battery thing over and over, it finally started up, and took me to a reboot screen, where it showed me a tiny clip art pic of a sidekick with a =P face that was broken. then it showed me the reboot screen, asking me if it wanted me to reboot, and, afercliking yes, it starteed working again

Firmware crashed. T-mobile needs to reload the OS into your device. Its "blank" or corrupt. Only way to bring the device back is to flash it

take the battery out, hold down w, while still holding the w put the battery back in. then scroll to reboot.

may take a few tries....
also this is an annoying and very temporary fix...get a new phone.

Sidekick 3

Emulating a Hard Reset
The Sidekick 3 now will commit memory-resident DataStores to flash memory when the device is powered down or rebooted normally. This greatly reduces the incidence of "hard reset" resyncing of the device which enhances user experience, however it makes it more difficult for developers to test this functionality on the device. You can simulate a hard reset on the device two ways: 1) Yank the battery out of the device without shutting it down. This will force a hard reset of the device, but it's not recommended as this can also potentially corrupt files on the miniSD card if they're being written when this happens. 2) (recommended) Follow the steps below to clear the datastores off and simulate a hard reset:
- Reboot the device by pressing @+1+0
- IMMEDIATELY press and hold the 'R' key on the keyboard. Continue to hold the 'R' key down
- The device will reboot, and when the initial boot screen (the 4 face buttons animation shows) displays, the screen will clear and the device will reboot again.
- Let go of the 'R' key at this point, and the device will reboot with no datastores, and force a resync.

Sidekick 3 has big red X on screen

You can try hard reset to see if that will clear it. With the unit powered on, pull the battery out.
