Alignment of my Dell 926 printer

I changed the ink cartridge in my Dell 926 and now it will not realign!! I have even tried a different cartridge and it keeps telling me to remove the tape from the cartridge. It is a Dell cartridge and Of Course!!! I have removed the tape.
My printer is only a little over a year old and has not been used very much. Basically a new printer. I am not happy!!!!!!

I have the same problem. I replaced the black cartridge, and I got the "alignment problem" message saying to remove the tape (there wasn't any tape left on the cartridge). The color ink cartridge was low, so I replaced it too. Still same message.

Unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Plug everything back in. This will reset any error messages the printer has.

Power on the printer. Open the printer and take out the Dell Series 9 Black cartridge. make sure all the tape is off the cartridge and put the cartridge back in. Now do the same for the Dell Series 9 color cartridge.

Make sure you've removed the shipping tape from the cartridge's print head. More than likely the black cartridge is not disbursing ink - clean the print head carefully with "Q" tip and alcohol and see if black ink comes out slightly. Re-insert cartridge and try again. Perform "clean cartridge" in printer properties window.

Replace your color cartridge and power printer on. The color cartridge is probably empty (even though there might be a little ink left in it). Many inkjet printers require the color cartridge for composite black even if you are not printing in color.

Dell Photo 926 printer will not print with the black ink and tells me that the cartridge is incompatible even though there is ink in the cartridge and i got it from dell

Do you have a '926' or a '962' printer? You've cited each number in your problem description.

Remove the ink cartridge.
Turn the printer off.
Turn the printer on.
Reinsert the ink cartridge.

If the problem persists, contact Dell, and get them to replace it.

Hi there

Replacing Ink Cartridges 1. Turn on your printer. 2. Lift the printer unit. 3. The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy. 4. Press down on the ink cartridge lever to raise each ink cartridge lid. 5. Remove the old ink cartridges. 6. Store the cartridges in an air-tight container, such as the storage unit you received with your photo cartridge, or dispose of them. 7. If you are installing new ink cartridges, remove the sticker and transparent tape from the back and bottom of each ink cartridge. 8. Insert the new ink cartridges. Make sure the black or photo ink cartridge is secure in the left ink cartridge carrier and the color ink cartridge is secure in the right ink cartridge carrier. 9. Snap each lid closed. 10. Close the printer unit. 11. An alignment page automatically prints.
