Water doesn't pump out on a series 950 frigidare dishwasher.

I believe the pump is bad in my frigidare series 950 dishwasher is bad. It no longer pumps the water out. Can I change the pump myself or does it take special tools? It appears to come apart from the inside.

Before you start removing pumps first ensure the drien pipe is not blocked simply blow from the end of the pipe back into the machine,if the pipe is clear then move to the pump this is usually located under the machine above the base plate first remove the base plate and locate the pump there will be two pipes attached to it the drain hose wich leads away from the machine and a hose from the tub to the pump remove these and then you will see a screw or hose clamp holding the pump in place, remove this and then the pump shuld come away pretty easily, check in the housing fisrt and make sure there are no obstuctions in the pump if it is clear ask a person with electrical knowledge if ou are not electrically minded to test the pump on that note if it is not working buy a new one sometimes spending a little time on these checks and proceedures can save you money, but yes sometimes the unit will be fualty but you will know there is nothing there that can cuase your new pump to break within a few months.

My Frigidare dishwasher is not draining so I cleaned the filter. Will there always be a little water left in the lowest part where it drains?

There will always be a small amount of water in the bottom because the pump is an impellor type, not syphon or peristaltic. The water will be whatever is in the drain pipework after the drain cycle has finished. If the machine is leaving a lot of water, the it would be worth checking the drain hose isnt blocked or kinked, and the drain pump impellor moves freely

Does not drain

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

I have a frigidare gallery ultra quiet III that is approximately 10 years old. It is not draining water to the point that it is leaking on the kitchen floor.

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

My frigidare dishwasher won't drain the dirty water

Look at for your model. If the motor shows a reversing valve, that may be your culprit. Some D/Ws like Whirlpools drain by reversing the motor direction via the timer mechanism. Also look for a destroyed pump impeller/diverter that is keeping it from pumping water out. Check exit hose for obstruction, even at disposer or air gap.

Frigidare dishwasher doesn't run

If you have your dishwasher on an outside wall, the water line may be frozen, try opening the sink cabinet doors allowing warm air to circulate around the water line.

Frigidare Dishwasher/rolls around

Nick, check the spray arms themselves to make sure they are not clogged, cracked or split. You have a seperate wash and drain motor on this model. It could be the filter under the lower spray arm is completely clogged with food gunk. You would have to remove the spray arm and get down to the filter. The wash motor itself has a small impeller on the end. It may be broken or the motor itself is bad. You would have to pull the dishwasher, the wash motor comes off very easily with just a couple of screws and you can examine the impeller. back
