Hi!

Well, it asks you for the login code, if you havent set that code then its set by the manufacture, it should be in the manual who came together with your netgear, it looks like something like this:
ACFG-ABF2-0EDF-11AD-CDFE-A,
Try to find it in the manual.

Good luck to you

LOST WIFI SECURITY KEY WORD
If you have lost your WEP/WAP wifi key phrase there is no way to recover it except go into the router administration settings and see if it is in plain text there. If not then you will have to make up a new key phase and apply it to ALL your connected devices.
In future, write the key phrase down on a piece of tape and apply it to the bottom of your router. You can use a hint instead of the actual phrase.
I use the memo function of my cell phone to keep all my passwords and keys.

Trying to connect to my net gear router, keep asking for a security key, and all I can come up with is a pass phase

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . Then click on wireless->wireless security->WEP security there is code password note down it or enter new password then save setting s and restart router. then you can connect wireless with new password. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Wg111v2 adapter wont connect wih inter net

i suggest resetting the router, that's not just a basic power cycle to refresh it, but it means finding the little button on the bottom or back or inside a little hole (through which you poke an unbent paper clip) that if you hold it in for several seconds (or maybe press the button while simultaneously plugging it in/turning it on), the device flushes its entire memory and resets everything to the factory defaults. This means you'll have to reconfigure everything from the get-go, but that's about the only way to go about setting a "new" passphrase when the old one is unknown.
and what i can understand is that the problem is in the usb wifi adapter and NOT the wifi router/access point..hope it helps..please clarify in case of any doubt..

NetGear WG111 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

After a small amount of trouble, I have configured my Win 98 laptop to use
Netgear WG111v2 wireless modem to connect to my wireless router. I used
the driver from the CD that came with the modem, following the instructions and
got to the point, after rebooting a couple of times, where I was connected to the
router, but could not reach another computer on my network (or the outside world).

I double-clicked on the wireless model icon in the system tray and noticed that,
on the NetGear SMART WIZARD panel, the WEP key was set to use the
"Create from passphrase" option, even though I supplied the already generated key (the
hex numbers) during installation of the modem. (The modem was using the key
as a passphrase to create another key.)

To fix this, on the SMART WIZARD panel, I
selected the "Enter key manually" option and, er, entered the hex key (the one
the router/access point uses for security) manually.
I hit "Apply" on the Wizard and, lo and behold, I was pinging the rest of my network.

I rebooted one more time (I had some leftover bad settings in my "Network Connection"
TCP/IP entry for the WG111 connection; I reset them before the reboot
to allow my network to automatically assign an address) and I was then able
to view my favorite site (bythestadium) from my favorite browser (firefox)

Wont install

I have only tried this on Windows XP. If you can connect to the web using a hard line you can get this running. Make sure you have internet. Then plug the wireless adapter into the usb port and when windows ask if it can search the internet say yes. That will install a driver for the wusb54gc. Then windows will manage the device. Linksys only has the option to download the installer as opposed to just the driver. What a pain when the installer doesn't work.
