IN ORDER TO THAT FOLLOW THIS

When u use this option whenver your system detects any new WINDOWS UPDATE choose the updates which u want to install... DONT INSTALL WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK --3.

was this copy of the windows o/s pre-installed on the pc when you got this?
or have you had a re- installed a copy of windows your self at any time.
if you belive to be a genuine copy of windows contact microsoft and explain to them you getting this message your genuine copy would have been validated by microsoft.

Is this your first time to update your operating system?
This message is a security feature of MS to detect the copy of windows is genuine before it let you update.
It may have been that you installed a pirated copy of windows. But if you are sure that your copy is genuine, contact microsoft as soon as possible and tell them the problem...they may give you a new serial key and instructions to resolve this problem.
hope this helps.
