I had 4 LaCie 2TB Big Disk Quadra, Item 301343U. They are connected to a Nitro 8-PORT FIREWIRE 800/1394B PROFESSIONAL (N8PFW8HR) hub. The hub is connected to a LaCie Firewire 800 PCI card. I am running...

Let's not take this as a solution so much as an intuition. I believe you may have run up against a limit of physical disk space that XP can administrate.

DO me a favor and don't give my rating a thrashing if I'm wrong.

Lacie 1 tb hard drive clicks and no recognition

Hi wes_unruh. Unfortunately that "click" , known as the click of death, can mean many things. It could be a head, System Area, scratched platters, etc. First, remove the hard drive from its casing. Then connect the hard drive internally to a computer. You might still get the click. Try a diferent angle and try many many times. Check the logic board for any signs of damage. Please DO NOT start swapping parts because there´s aligment, firmware issues and you can make things worse if you need to do Data Recovery. If you had important informacion, you need to take it to a data recovery company such as Ontrack or ADS, because they have the right equipment such as Deepstar, PCI3000 in order to fully retrieve your files. IT IS an expensive process. I hope this helps. Please do not forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our free support today. Thank you :D

LACIE drive not visible

Unfortunatley this is the classic symptoms of a broken drive. You can try accessing the drive on DOS by using online software. (eg spinrite).

If you get your drive to work copy all the important info onto discs and format this drive.

As i repair PC's this is the most common problem. Hard drives are only guaranteed for 1 to 3 years.

To help you in future

*Defrag your hard drive every month
*Backup and format the drive every year
*And never fill up a drive over 60% ( eg never exceed 60 gig on a 100 gig drive.

These easy steps should stop a hard drive faliure and make it last around 5-10 years.

Hope this helps

LaCie BIG HD suddenly invisible to my Mac

Hi,

from the description either th drive or the 1394 logic board has failed. Try having the technicians at you local PC shop swap the actual hard drive from the Lacie enclosure into a new enclosure and test it. If it works, buy the enclosure and you're back in business, if it oesn't and you need the data on the drive comment back with your Country, State & City and I'll refer you to a good Data recovery specialist in your region.

Hop this helps FixYa,

Chris

I need to download the LACIE setup assistant and can't find my software. Does anyone know where I can find this program to download. I need to format my Lacie drive for windows. Thanks if some one can...

The webpage of LaCie support doesn't have the "LaCiee Setup Assitant" program. And LaCie Backup Assistant is another program. Can't you guys read? He asked for another program!
So you did not help!
I need it too, but it seems impossible to find,
Cheers!
