It will be hard for you to transfer through wire. You can just use a USB or Ethernet but it would be easier to just burn a CD or put it on a thumb (flash) drive

Can I scrub driver, get rid of vista and install my favorite which is XP home

One problem with downgrading operating systems is the risk of components not having drivers for the new os.
You might be able to check online to see if XP will run the drivers for your machine before trying it.

Vista home premium producy key

Any computer with enough "horsepower" to run Microsoft Vista
came with Microsoft Vista pre-installed, plus a decal (on the side-panel of a desktop,
or the bottom of a laptop) with the 25-character product-key.

Or, if you purchased a copy of Microsoft Vista at a computer-store, the product-key was included with the packaging.

Or, if you made an online purchase, check your E-mail, including your 'JunkMail' folder, for a message containing the product-key.

I recently reinstalled windows vista home premium on my Acer Aspire 6390. I don't have any of the cds that originally came with the laptop, and was forced to use a different vista install disk. Now i...

Find another computer with a USB port and Internet access.
Find a USB memory-stick.
Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://www.acer.com
and search under "support" for "Aspire" and "6390".
Download the device-driver for the wireless adapter to the memory-stick (or burn to a CD-R or CD-RW).
Move the memory-stick (or "burnt" disk) to your Acer computer, and install from there.
Voila! Internet access.

Using another computer online, go to the Toshiba website and download the drivers to a usb flash drive. Then take the drive over to your laptop and install them from the flash drive.

Hard drive crash, not usable at all; downloaded xp drivers and computer drivers but cannot get them installed. Hard drive not recognized.

When you install a new harddrive, it has no Operating System on it.
Windows XP and Windows Vista, are examples of an Operating System.

Each laptop manufacturer, has their own system of changing a laptop harddrive. Some allow you to press a key or two, to put the laptop in a state where it will save the basic Operating System files, and when you install the new harddrive, it will transfer them over to it.

Some laptop manufacturers do have this option.

You either have to take the harddrive out, install it into an external enclosure for a harddrive, (Uses a USB cable) Then attach the external enclosure via the USB cable, to another computer, and use a 'mirror' imaging program to save the Operating System to that computer.

Then the new harddrive is installed in that external enclosure, and the Operating System is 'mirrored' over to it.

Just information for you, as you cannot do this now with a crashed harddrive.
Your option now, is to buy a genuine copy of the Operating System you had on the laptop, and install it.
Not what you wanted to hear, huh?

You need to buy whatever version of Windows XP it had, (WinXP Home or WinXP Pro), or Windows Vista.
If it was Windows Vista, I suggest getting at least the Windows Vista Home Premium version.

I personally prefer Xp over Vista.
Tigerdirect.com, and Newegg.com, have these.
Look for Software>Operating Systems.

OR, you can simply put Ubuntu Linux on it for free.

Transfer of video to laptop or P.C

I have tried to transfer some home movies from my camcorder to my Windows Vista PC and it was unable to find the drivers. According to Microsoft the drivers for the device are already installed. However Sony states that the camcorder's USB streaming feature can not be used and the device does not even show up in My computer.

More information can be found at Sony's support website or at Microsoft's Windows Support website

On Microsoft's website the model is not even shown because it is certified for use in Windows Vista

Of course, since the drivers needed should be compatible with Vista... that's the problem on Vista, it still has a lot of problems with the drivers of old peripherals.

Visit Vista website and find a compatible driver or ask on their online help desk on what to do with your printer;s driver....

Good luck.
