Sounds like a browser add-on isn't working right.

Assuming this is Internet Explorer you're talking about, try resetting the Internet Explorer settings.

Computer restarts randomly

If you are using Windows (XP, Vista or 7) then open the Computer properties by clicking on the Computer icon (on desktop or start menu) then go to the Advanced page tab and check if you have the option to automatically restart the system set on in the Startup and Recovery Settings section. If this is on, then Windows will restart the system any time that a critical error is encountered.

The other place to check is in the Windows Event logs (system log) provided this option is enabled.
You should be able to access the event logs by right clicking on the Computer icon and then selecting the Manage option followed by opening the Event viewer where you should look for any critical, error or warning entries that may occur at the times when the computer restarts itself (or posted immediately when it restarts).

My toshiba just keeps acting like it is going to reboot then it shuts off. Whe ou turn it on it keps doing the same thing, we tried a new hard drive but that didn't work either

Press the f8 key when it attempts to restart. It should go to a menu with several options. Choose the option that says, "Diasable automatic restart on system failure." and it should go to a blue screen with a message about your error. Write down the error and 'google it' on a working computer and it should give you a good idea of what is causing the problem. Good luck.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 and I am getting the error message 2000-0146

This error code is part of the DST (Disk Self Test). Unfortunately that particular error code is telling you that there are previous errors in the log. There are multiple things that can easily lead to hard drive errors.

The first thing I would do is a checkdisk. To initiate this, open My Computer. Right-Click on the C:/ drive and select Properties. Click on the tab that says Tools. And there is an option that says "check now" under Error Checking. Select both options on this tab: Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

This will likely give you a message saying it's unable to check now and will ask to do so on the next reboot. Restart your system and wait for the scan to finish. After this, check your logs and see if you're still getting the same errors.

When I turn my computer on, I get a runtime error.

Clean Boot with Only MoSearch loadTOCNode(2, 'resolution'); The Mosearch.exe (Microsoft Office Search Service) and Mosdmn.exe (Microsoft Office 10 Search Filter Daemon) Startup items may be conflicting with some other program (or programs) running in the background. Therefore, clean boot your computer with only MoSearch selected on the Startup menu to determine whether this program is the source of the conflict. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type msconfig.exe, and then click OK.
  3. On the General tab, click Selective startup.
  4. On the Startup tab, click to clear all check boxes except for MoSearch.

NOTE: In Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), leave the *StateMgr check box selected as well.
  5. Click OK, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
  6. If the error message can be reproduced, repeat the preceding steps. In step 3, also click to clear the Process System.ini file and Process Win.ini file check boxes.
If the error message cannot be reproduced, this indicates that MoSearch is conflicting with some other program or programs running in the background. Follow these steps to locate the conflicting program:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type msconfig.exe, and then click OK.
  3. On the Startup tab, click to select one of the check boxes.
  4. Click OK, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart the computer.
  5. If the preceding steps reproduce the error message, the last item added to the Startup menu is causing the conflict. If the error message is not reproduced, repeat these steps until all Startup menu check boxes are selected.
  6. If all the Startup menu check boxes are selected and the error message is still not reproduced, start Msconfig again, and then click to select the Process System.ini file and Process Win.ini file check boxes.
If this doesn't fix it, let me know and I'll post another, more advanced repair.

Good luck, and please let me know how you do.

How del bad sectors in hard disk

Detecting and repairing disk errors You can use the Error-checking tool to check for file system errors and bad sectors on your hard disk. Open My Computer, and then select the local disk you want to check. On the File menu,Right click>> click Properties. On the Tools tab, under Error-checking, click Check Now. Under Check disk options, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box. Notes To open My Computer, click Start, and then click My Computer. All files must be closed for this process to run. If the volume is currently in use, a message box will appear prompting you to indicate whether or not you want to reschedule the disk checking for the next time you restart your system. Then, the next time you restart your system, disk checking will run. Your volume will not be available to perform other tasks while this process is running. If your volume is formatted as NTFS, Windows automatically logs all file transactions, replaces bad clusters, and stores copies of key information for all files on the NTFS volume.

thanks.

Hp pavilion dv8000 logging off - sometimes won't

There are so many things that could cause this particular problem. From a bad hard drive, to bad ram, to a bug or virus, to simply just your anti virus software, or some other software not closing out.

I would start with a hard drive diagnostic and see if that passes ok. Also, run a chkdsk on the drive to make sure everything in the file system is clean. Do a virus scan to check for bugs. And then run the system file checker to make sure all windows system files are orignal and unchanged. You can also check the admin event logs for any clues as to erros or problems.

A simple hard drive diagnostic can be found here - http://support.wdc.com/download/index.asp?cxml=n&pid=999&swid=3 about mid page is a download button, install it and run from windows, easy to follow.

Run a chckdsk on the drive. Go into My Computer, right click on your hard drive listed, left click on properties and in the pop up window, choose the tools tab and click the Check Now button under error checking. This will schedule a chkdsk during the next boot. Reboot the pc and let it run. Also, make sure that both boxes are checked. One for auto fix system errors and one for bad sector check before clicking ok. You'll see what I am talking about as you go through the steps.

Check for viruses, if you dont have an anti-virus software, then go download the free version of AVG. It works well. You can get that at http://free.grisoft.com

And the other thing to check is the event log. Go into your control panel, open the Admin Tools icon and then open the Event Viewer section. You can check for erros in windows in those logs to maybe identify a problem.

If you do all that and still have a problem, post a reply.
