Everytime i try to connect it says that the ds will use WEP, as my router is on WAP and I dont know how to change it...I have just purchased a Wifi Max dongle on E-bay but I now hear that they dont work with Vista, I would appreciate any help with this. Why do Nintendo make it so hard with the DS, my psp and Wii only took 2 mins to connect
Have you considered changing your router from WPA to WEP? That would solve your problem with getting your DS online, although it would reduce the security of your home network. But some security is better than none. As far as the WiFi Max dongle, that's just a simple version of a wireless router and since you already have one it's kind of redundant. You might want to put it up on E-Bay and see if you can make some of your money back.

Try changing your WiFi encription to WEP or no security, this should be available on your cablemodem/router web internface (need a user and password for that) under the Wireless/Security option.
DS Lite is not compatible with any other WiFi encription for online gaming: "Important note about the Nintendo DSi and WPA security: While the Nintendo DSi is compatible with WPA security, Nintendo DS games with online play still require the use of WEP or no security to connect with the Nintendo WFC. Therefore, your connection settings for using these games must be set up on slots 1-3. Nintendo Wi-fi Connection doesn't support WAP networks. The mode it does support is WEP. If you are attempting to connect to a home network wireless you can login to your home router and change this the network mode.

First you need to check is if the WEP key that you are entering is the WEP key of your router. Try to connect a laptop to your computer which do not belong to the network. Say, your friends laptop. This laptop will ask for a security key if it's the first time to connect to the network. Enter your security key and see if the laptop can connect to the network. If it did not connect then the problem is your WEP key.
WPA and WPA2 are not supported by the DS Lite, only WEP and unencrypted wifi connections are. There is no known way at the moment to make the DS Lite support WPA of any form so your only three options are to go to WEP encryption, use no encryption (not recommended), or set up an adhoc connection on a computer with that is connected to your router that has internet connection sharing enabled.
This code means that it couldn't access the Wi-Fi access point. Make sure you are close enough to your router, and your connection settings match. Also, try using WEP (instead of WPA) if you aren't already.
I am going to take a guess here - you are trying to connect a DS lite to your wireless network - the DS only support WEP security not WPA. Most wireless routers will default to WPA security. You need to log into your router and change its security to WEP. Details are dependent on the router make and model. If you need details on haw to change the wireless network please let me know.
Most likely, your router has WAP protection. For some reason beyond my comprehension, Nintendo DS systems are only compatible with WEP protection. If you need help regarding the changing of the security, I'd be more than willing to help. Hope this was useful!

What to do:
Verify the Access Point's WEP Key is entered correctly into the
Nintendo DS. If your router has slots for more than one WEP key, the
first (#1) must be the one selected on your router. If you need

and information that may help you with your router's WEP Key. If you have multiple connection files saved to your Nintendo DS, the
