Graphics Card Compatibility with Asus M2A-MX motherboard

Hi,
I'm looking to update the graphics card on my desktop computer some time in the future. I have an Asus M2A-MX motherboard with integrated sound card (Realtek ALC66a High Definition Audio  6-channel  CODEC) and integrated graphics card (ATI  Radeon X1200 VPU Graphics, UMA memory up to 256MB). However, I don't know where to start with the graphics cards which would be compatible with my computer. Could anyone provide me with a short list of compatible graphics cards for my motherboard?
P.S. I have x1 PCI Express x16 slot x1 PCI Express x1 slot and 2x PCI slots I do not have any AGP slots.
Regards, Anli

Hi Anli!

Well, any GPU with pci expess will be compatible thit that mobo of your.

Its not easy to recomend any specific, it all depends of what you needs are.

Just make sure that the card you upgrade with is for an pci express slot.
A verry good GPU coast around 150-200 euros, a top GPU card cost 400-600 euros
There are ATI cards and there are Nvidia cards, both will suit with your MoBo as long as they are for pci express.

Good luck with your new card M8!

You need a PCI 16express video card to go into you PCIe16 slot . This is the newest video; much better that the old AGP cards. Any of them will work. The ram size on the card is a fair indicator.    Look at them at:  Newegg.com          or     Tiger.com
for example.  After installng the card you will have to tuern off the "onboard Video" from your BIOS setp screen.

Graphics card for asus p4p800-mx

Hello there, I will be your technician today. My name is Norman-Wynne Damstra.

Welcome to Fixya!

On the rear of the mainboard, called the Input/Output or I/O you will find a blue VGA port, this is your on-board graphics adaptor/graphics card. Therefore you may use this port to connect your monitor to.

Alternatively if you are looking for a graphics card to fit your computer mainboard, you will need to install one that uses the PCI slot. That is the White slot. You may install the graphics card in any of the three available PCI slots.

You could contact your computer store and ask them if they have a PCI graphics card, or search E-bay or the like for a PCI graphics card. Brands by Nvidia or AMD/ATI radeon will work. A Nvidia Geforce 5200 or 5500 may do the trick, usually 128mb versions.

Take care!

Its is possible that the power supply isnt powering the graphics card, because of the power needed to run the fan and gpu. It is a more updated card than the 8600gt with more graphics processing speeds and capabilities, so it is possible you will have to buy a new power pack with more wattage.

I want to use a better vga but it isnt any port

Without a VGA port, you can't use a VGA card, pretty simple stuff.

If you want to add a video card, you will need to get a PCI video card (NOT PCI-E!) There are a number of them out there, and pretty much anything made in the last 3 to 4 years will be better than the on-board video...
