Question about Hotpoint TDL15 Electric Dryer

Open Question

ASD70C dryer program stops prematurely (10-20mins)

The dryer display shows 2:20 completion time, then it reduces to 0:20 when it will stop, but the clothes are still wet.
I checked inside the heater elements are fine, the filters are clean, and I already tried to reset one of the thermostats with the pin.
There is no error code on the display, it just ends the program.
Do I need to change the thermostats? How much do they cost?

SOURCE: My hotpoint vtd00 dryer seems to have stopped drying

Have you cleaned the exhaust ducting? The duct that runs from inside to outside. Try that first. Sounds like your exhaust line is blocked. Also with the filter out get a flash light and look down the venting if alot of lint vaccum out. NOTE: Unplug the unit, wheather gas or electric.....and if it is a gas shut off the gas to the dryer before moving just in case something gets loose while moving. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Dryer shuts off prematurely

The E1 code is a replace control panel code and a good way to check a sensor is to open the door with a empty machine and at the top of the opening there is a switch. Press it and start the dryer, watch the indicator for the sensor then get a wet finger and hold it across the two silver bars in the dryer, if it senses then maybe it is a mixed load or how is the machine leveled? I will lower the machine toward the sensor for better contact because after 3-5 passes the machine will assume the clothes are dry. If the sensor doesnt read then there is a question with the two mov varistors attached to a pig tail before the sensor. Here is a link to see what they look like.

SOURCE: dryer element not working

Sounds like it could be a faulty heater relay. The relay is located at the top behind the console panel.
It is a clear plastic box with the contacts inside it.
If you have tried everything else, then this what I would go for.
Hope this helps.
Please leave feedback.

SOURCE: have a hotpoint tdc30p dryer that will not heat

Check to see if the new parts fitted are o/k,
If they are, then your problem is probably a faulty control unit or possibly bad connection in the wiring.
If the new parts are faulty, then something else is causing them to fail.
Make sure all filters are clean and that all air vents are clear

Dryer turns on then stops in 5 seconds and flashes F40 code. shuts down

Check lint filter, check vent outlet at dryer, and continue on through vent checking for lint to the exit area of the vent. Keeping the vent lint free saves energy and reduces drying time.

My dryer does not blow hot and will not shut off and no digital reading will display.

Hello Bryan;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

So, here are the probable causes:

1.) The blower wheel draws air through the dryer and pushes the air out the vent. If the dryer won't stop, the blower wheel may be plugged up or not be spinning properly, which reduces the air flow. Check to see if the blower wheel is securely fastened to the drive motor shaft. Check the blower hot air discharge manifold for blockage.

2a.) If the dryer won't stop, the gas valve solenoid coils might be defective. Over time these coils will fail, causing the burner to run intermittently. If the dryer is not heating properly it may not stop. Replace the coils as a set.

2.b) The heating element warms the air before the air enters the dryer drum. If the dryer won't stop, it may be because the heating element isn't working - which greatly increases the drying time. Check the heating element for continuity.

3.) Dryer sheets and fabric softener can leave a residue on the lint filter, reducing the air flow. If the dryer won't stop, check to be sure air can flow freely, clean the filter as needed.

4.) Although not as common, if the dryer won't stop it may be because the moisture sensor is either defective or shorted

5.) If the dryer won't stop, check the high limit thermostat. If defective, the high limit thermostat can turn off the heat prematurely, lengthening the time it takes to dry a full load. This is not common.

6.) The cycling thermostat regulates the temperature of the air in the dryer. If the dryer won't stop, it may be caused by a defective cycling thermostat turning off the heat too early. This is not common.

7.) The thermistor senses the temperature of the air in the dryer and cycles the heat on and off. If the dryer won't stop, the thermistor may be defective. This is not common.

My drier was on the sensor cycle and was supposed to run for 54 mins. It was still drying over 2 hours later and the display showed there were 42 mins remaining in the cycle. The clothes were completely...

More than likely the temperature sensor has gone bad. If the unit is under warranty I would contact the dealer...otherwise you need to replace the sensor.

At times when I apply the brakes, right at the time when the vehicle should be coming to a complete stop, the brakes seem to let up and allow the vehicle to slide up a few feet more.

i would suspect your antilock brakes are activating. you probably have one of your wheel speed sensors that drop to 0 mph fooling the computer that one of the wheels have locked up and therefore goes into antilock mode. no code would set as this is a normal function of antilock brakes, you would need to get a scanner on the car and monitor wheel speed input. as you come to a stop monitor the wheel speeds closely and look to see which one is droppind to 0 prematurly.

BAD CONTROL BOARD TO TEST TO SEE IF THIS IS THE ISSUE RUN TEST PROGRAM
To start test program, press and hold both SCRUB WASH and DELICATE/ECONO program buttons, then turn unit on by
pressing ON/OFF button. Initially, control module version # will be displayed (e.g./ “20” = version 0 without jumper). When
wash program buttons are released, lights above them will flash. To end test program, press ON/OFF button.
To check each program indicator light, press its button. To check Cycle Countdown display, Refill Rinse Agent light and
REGULAR WASH light, press REGULAR WASH button (press Delay Start button to test Cycle Countdown display
alone). Cycle Countdown display will show "88" when REGULAR WASH button is pressed and "8h" when Delay Start
button is pressed.
To start testing, press both SCRUB WASH and DELICATE/ECONO buttons a second time. When testing has ended,
Cycle Countdown display will show a fault using codes below. If more than one fault occurs, code numbers will be added
together, (e.g./ “6” = faults 2 + 4).
0 = No faults detected 2 = Heating fault 8 = NTC (temperature sensor) fault
1 = Aqua Sensor ("Sensotronic") fault 4 = Filling fault F = Filling fault (display occurs during wash, not test)
To check for heater, high limit or flow switch problems, start testing until heating starts. Using a meter with a current coil,
measure current going into dishwasher. If current is ~ 11 A, then heater, high limit and flow switch are OK. If current stays
at ~ 1.5-2 A, then heater, high limit or flow switch are faulty.
If water level switch (f1) has failed (opened), display will show fault code "4" and unit will continually fill and drain where
testing won't be completed. If flow switch (e5) has failed (opened), display will show "0", water won't heat (to 150ºF) and
water won’t stop circulating. If NTC probe (f2/f4) has failed (opened), display will show fault code "8" immediately and
testing will end shortly after water has started circulating
