Kodak ESP3 verses Windows Vista!

Just bought a new Acer computer, running Vista, and tried to install my ESP3 all in one printer, which worked fine on my previous computer. Having gone through all the online helps etc on the koadak website, and contacting the helpline for over 2 hours! Every time I try to install, about 95% of the way through, I get a message telling me the windows has found the driver software but encountered an error whilst attempting to install it, operation returned as time out period expired. I have tried closing all background programmes etc. This is driving me mad!!!! Any ideas please

Are you trying to install the printer from cd-rom drivers or did you download and stored the drivers on your disk?

I have a suggestion that might work.
Is your User Account Control turned on? If it is, try turning it off, reboot, and try to reinstall your drivers.
This feature of Vista is notorious for blocking new drivers. It was so bothersome to me that I leave it turned off permanently.

User Account Control can be accessed through Control Panel/Security Center.

A few questions:

1) What operating system are you using?

2) Are you getting any errors? (Flashing E)

3) Did you install the software BEFORE connecting the USB cable?

Software Installation problem gets stuck - all in one Kodak ESP3 printer

I have a 6 year old Dell with XP, plenty of hard drive and memory. I could not scan using the software, I went on the Kodak website and followed the Step-by-Step Solutions and Repair which nothing worked, including the Kodak Clear Utility they reccomend for ridding your system of the software, it just locked up at the end.
So, I spent several hours on the phone with Technicians trying to uninstall and reinstall the ESP3 software. None of their methods worked even step by step manually un-installing every file and folder...
So I wrote a nasty email to them and they sent this back, which by the way, didn't work for me either, but maybe it can for you.

According to your email, the issue is that you have not been able to install the software for the printer on your computer. We understand the importance for you to have your printer working properly.

To help resolve this issue, please follow these steps in the order they appear:

1. Disconnect all USB devices from the computer, including the Kodak EasyShare all-in-one printer.

2. Uninstall the Kodak EasyShare 5000 series all-in-one software:

e. Depending on the issue(s) you are experiencing, do the following:
If you are experiencing errors with the Kodak EasyShare software, such as a Tricode, in addition to errors with the KODAK AiO Home Center software, select Remove, click Next, and follow the on-screen instructions for removing the software.
If you are not experiencing errors with Kodak EasyShare software, select Modify to uninstall only KODAK AiO Home Center software, and click Next.
f. In the Custom Setup window, select Remove from the drop-down menu for the Kodak All-in-One Printer, and click Next.
g. In the Ready to remove the program window, click Next.
h. In the Uninstall Complete window, click Continue.
i. Restart the computer.
