When turns on, the boot-up 'freezes' at the clock screen that shows it supposed to be loading...even does this after reset.

I just called Magellan.....1-800-707-9971. I got my 4250 for Christmas 2007 and never did register it. We did that over the phone and then he gave me a repair order and an address to send the unit to them. It will be fixed under warranty.....my only cost is the UPS or FED EX shipping. He said I will have it back in 7 to 10 days. OUTSTANDING service.
Mine was stuck on the blue screen.......and the pin reset did nothing.
SO......best of luck to you all......and I highly suggest calling Magellan.

SOURCE: Map update error problem with Magellan 4250

I called tech support and they said that the update requires XP SP1 or SP2, NOT SP3. I have not tried it yet, but they told me it was a problem with not being compatible with XP service pack 3

No a practical solution, but at least you will get your device repair, after being on hold for 40 minutes I spoke to a very nice rep, unfortunately evethough she didn't admit it, it seems a software problem with the new 2008/2009 map update, in other words no way to fix it, you need to send it for repair, make sure you tell them to update the device with the new 2008/2009 Maps, if not you will have the same problem later on, Good Luck

SOURCE: When i start the Magellan maestro 4250 , the

try the hard reset. the little hole the size of a paper clip on the side of the unit. if that doesnt work, id say the digitizer(touch screen) might be broke.

I when turn on my Maestro 4250 the screen is all white and I don't see any menu.

Plug it into your computer to see if it recognizes it. Perform a software update from magellan's website. If it still has the white screen, press the reset button with a pen.

If none of that works, then your unit may be defective. Call magellan for a warranty replacement.

Screen stays on the blue magellan screen and won't reset

  • Try to press and hold the reset botton for 15 seconds if that will not work try to press the power botton for at least 10 seconds. If these two will not work, call the tech support of magellan and check if its still under warranty so they can fix it for free. But if its not under warranty try to trade it in for free and they will give you a cheaper price.

Magellan 4250 blue screen, not able to reset

This may mean that the GPS was formatted and there is no data on it. So basically, you can't do anything with it because all the maps and software were deleted.

Maestro 4250 frozen after incomplete 2009 map up date

I had same problem on 3/28/09.

According to Magellan and other people who have experienced the same problem, this is terminal to the unit. It can be caused by downloading the 08/09 Magellan map upgrade, which can cause the unit to permanently lock up. Magellan is well aware of the problem, and should offer to replace your unit if you have the problem. If you elect to have it repaired, Magellan can download the map upgrade for you in the repair process. Here is a site noting the same problem: http://74.125.93.104/search?q=cache:pNLjGT-i4-sJ:forums.gpsreview.net/viewtopic.php%3Ft%3D8958+magellan+4250+gps+stays+on+blue+screen&cd=8&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

Questions for Magellan: 1) why would they sell, in 2009, gps units with old 2007 maps loaded in them, requiring the purchaser to buy a current map, and 2) if there is a problem with downloading the current maps, why is there not an advisement or warning to the installer.

Other than replacing the unit, there appears to be no "fix".
