Question about LG Electronics LRM-519 Digital Media Recorder
Hello, I accidentally inserted a CDRom of Windows XP which deleted the internal Firmware and now the Recorder doesn't read any disk. The LG service said I need to substitute the mother board because the Firmware cannot be re-loaded by a CD. Anyone knows how to write the Firmware (which I have in .bin and .cin file) into the mother board without using the standard way using a CDRom? Thanks a lot for your help.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Recently purchased a unit... You can imagine the joy when I found in Manual: Audio discs can only play if in .mpg or .wma formats! Yes, all the bells and whistles except the most basic of functions such as all common audio formats. Other portable $99 dvd player works with them.

To unlock the region limitation of your machine:
(all the following is done on the remote)
Go to the Easy Setup Menu
Go to <Setup>
"Hover" the cursor block over the Lock symbol (don't enter yet)
Enter 0000 on the remote
A Congratulations message comes up.

I have had this on a number of other players. First try the disks in question on another DVD player after giving them a thorough clean. If they work there then you know the problem is not with the disks.
After that (assuming the RH299 is actually working in every other respect e.g. on HDD), run a laser cleaning DVD/CD in the machine to clean the laser lens. If your machine is out of warranty then you can try opening it and cleaning the laser lens with rectified spirits/pure alcohol. Then try the disks again. If they still don't play, then it's off to a local electronics expert to see if realigning or replacing the laser and transport mechanism is economically viable, or buy a new machine.
