What I can understand is the camera does not allow you to take any photographs. Recharge the batteries fully and try again. If you still can't get it working, please provide all details like what does the display show, what setting are you using etc.

Camera won't stay in one mode while in use, flips between modes while taking pictures. Video impossible for same reason. Also, battery compartment cover hard to close.

hi,
check the battery's shape, if it is bulged replace it, check the panel keys if any of it sticky or loose, use contact cleaner spry on the keys.

Broke battery cover

And now you can't use the camera? the cover must be closed complete. There is a switch, to check if the cover is closed. this is checked, to prevent damage to the memory card. When the camera is powered down while accessing the memory, the already saved pictures can become damaged.
You better contact an authorised service centre, for a repair of the camera.

My son deleted all the pictures from the memory card. Is there a way to recover the pictures? I have not removed the card from the camera yet.

If these are "once in a lifetime pictures", there is retrieval software you can purchase that can possibly get your pictures back. It's costly but at least you'll have it if it happens again in the future. Just don't shoot any more pics on the card...that will only overwrite your pics making retrieval impossible. Google the words "digital picture retrieval software" for the available ones.

When i try to open the camera whith was connected to a laptop (with virus)which is connected to the net it bloked completly and now i can't get access to my camera evrything is bloked could you please help...

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Lines on screen and photos, too bright photos outside

Lines across your pictures or pictures too bright are due to the shutter not closing correctly or at all.
to check this- turn camera on, turn off flash, turn camera around and look into the lens. Adjust the zoom so that the shutter and internal lens comes up to the end of the lens and whatch as you take a picture. You should see the shutter close completely over the lens. If it doesn't move or does not close over completely then there is your problem.
If camera was dropped it could have jammed the shutter open or obstructed it in some way from closing completely.
camera will require repair/ service.
You may have some luck if you power up and down your camera numerous times before taking a picture. The action of the lens opening and closing may free the shutter.

Camera goes to sleep too quickly...is there a way to adjust?

To save battery power, the camera automatically goes into sleep mode and the monitor turns off if there is no operation after 3 minutes when the camera is turned on (when the lens cover is open and the monitor is on). No picture is taken even if the shutter button is fully pressed in this mode. Operate the zoom button or other buttons to restore the camera from sleep mode before taking a picture. If the camera is left on for 15 minutes, it automatically turns off (the lens cover closes and the monitor turns off). Press POWER to turn the camera on.
