Question about Hitachi LG GSA-4120 DVD+-RW/RAM 12x Burner W/ Dual Layer Support (GSA4120) Burner
I am not able to boot the dvd using my drive mentioned above(GSA-H60L)
..........i guess the problem with it is the master slave options to be changed using jumpers but the jumpers are not available as in this case , can anyone tell me how to change the master slave options(other than changes made in BIOS settings , as its not working )
Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: HL-DT-DVD-RW GSA H60L DVDE DRIVE
I just posted a reply to another message that is almost the same. Could be you. It is the foam pad ring from a new CD or DVD spindle that was stuck on a disc that you put in and missed it. It does not go back in the drive. It goes in the trash.
The ring is used hold the discs solidly on new retail spindle. The noise was the drive strugging with an unbalanced disc.
If you caught it right away and nothing hit the laser or lens you are ok. Try reading or burning another disc.
Cheers

There should be a diagram on the drive indicating the jumper positions. Good luck!

SOURCE: Hello , i have this
Hi Iuly,
First, open the Device Manager and
uninstall the drive.
If you need instructions on how to
open the Manager, here is the link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283658
Download and install CCleaner
(free) from Piriform Run the cleaner to remove old
un-needed temp files Select the StartUp tab and look
for any programs that you know you installed but no longer use or
need, and disable them. Caution, do
not disable any system files unless you absolutely know what they
do and that you do not need them. Run the Registry cleaner, when
asked if you want to backup the registry, select YES,
and save to a file you will remember just in case. I have used this
program hundreds of time on many different system and it has never
caused a problem, but you want to be safe, backup the Registry. If asked about a particular file
that it wants to clean, select "yes to all" Reboot
CCleaner link -
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner Windows should reinstall the drive when
the computer boots back up. If this does not resolve your problem,
try the following. Download one of the Open Source
DVD burning programs from the links below The
following link is a list of all free, but not all Open Source,
Windows DVD burning
software. If you take all these step and you
still can not burn a DVD, chances are your DVD burner componet needs
to be replaced. Good Luck. If this helps resolve your issue,
would you please rate the solution
