I restarted it and now the screen is black and it does not make the normal starting up sounds, it just sounds like its on but nothing is happening.
Hi cali girl196,
I am happy to help,
You will need to remove the Memory port cover from the bottom of the computer,
It may take a small phillips head screw driver.
Replace the cover and start the computer up.
There should be enough onboard memory to start up.
If you are able to start you will then need to replace the memory one simm at a time if you have more than one.
Your memory should look like this.
Let me know what you find

Sorry, I meant for you to take the memory out of the computer then replace the cover.
Here is a link to the installation manual

It will explain how to remove the memory.
Once you have removed the memory try to start the computer.

Follow my instructions exactly to get the laptop to start up again. Also please accept my solution if you got it working.
Solution 1
Unplug the AC adapter and battery
wait 5 minutes, plug in the ac adapter and try starting up?
if the problem is not solved go to solution 2
Solution 2
Again unplug both
Now turn the laptop over and locate the ram cover
unscrew the ram cover and remove it. Snap the ram modules out of the laptop.
now with no memory installed at all. Close the ram cover but don't attach the screws.
turn the laptop over, plug in the ac power try starting up.
Ok unplug the ac power, the laptop was not supposed to start up like this.
Insert the other ram module back into the slot, turn the laptop over and plug in the ac adapter again.
Now try starting up, you should get picture.
If you get picture please accept my solution, and if you need further help let me know.
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
A few things you can try:
carefully;Good luck and thank you for using FixYa
If you were familiar with the parts. remove the memory strip of the unit and clean the contact and put it back again.
Plz shut down your system then unplug the power cable and then open the cover and resit the ram, then try to boot it, if you problem is not solved then, follow the same procedure and remove the ram and now you try to boot if you can get any beep sound, then your motherboard needs repair.
If the you cant find any beep sound just check is your system fan is running or not, if it is not running then you have problem with your power supply.
Hope you will post back your findings
Hi,

I am not sure what the contacts of the battery are
I put the cd in and it still will not start up. None of the normal starting up sounds, the screen is black
I dont know how to do that, and the screen is completely black, nothing seems to be going on except that it sounds like the fans are on
how do I know if I am in safe mode it the screen is black
what do you mean by resit the ram? what is the ram?
where is the memory, how do I remove the memoryremove the battery and powerup using the AC adapter only;
remove battery, remove AC adapter/charger, remove memory, let it be for about half an hour;
clean the gold pins of the memory using a hard pencil eraser
use a dry clean old toothbrush to clean the memory slots and the memory itself.
