Cannot get my dvdshrink 3.2 to work anymore

Hello my ongoing problem started like this-- i had been using dvdshrink3.2 on my toshiba w/vista basic for 2 years no prob.then one day it started failing at around 85% of the burn process,it would encode the entire movie but would only burn 85% or so.same with cds as well.i thought it was the dvd drive so i bought a new one installed it with no change in the performance.so i got pissed and just wiped my entire hard drive (i had several other program probs).then i reloaded my disc that had dvdshrink 3.2 on it,to find that the version of nero key # i had was expired and if i wanted to use 3.2 i needed nero,so i downloaded the free trial of nero to check it out.my first attempt burned100% but the disc was incomplete, backwards(scene 3 before scene2 for example) no menus, unable to respond to remote functions.settings in shrink had been the same as always.my second attempt failed at 5%.wtf.can any one help me?do ineed to get an updated version of 3.2? is there any downloadable burning software that i could use other than shrink3.2/nero?this seemingly is the last prob my comp has please help me fix it before i throw it off a bridge.

i think i had nero 7 but when i erased my hard drive i lost it and when i went to reload the disc that had shrink3.2,alco,nero,and a couple other progs only shrink would load nero said it had expired and would not respond to any key numbers that i had (i think there is a program on same disc that generates key numbers for nero) but i when i used shrink the first time after the reload there was a blue note in upper right corner of backup setting box sayoing if i wanted to burn i was gonna need nero,so i got the trial version (nero 9) to see what was up .does not work i reloaded shrink and right now am trying to analyze, encode, burn, will take about an hour.but i dont have very high hopes so i dont know if i really have nero at all can nero 7... or 6.. be downloaded somewhere

what version of nero are you using? It is probably best to use nero 6.

I think it only runs best with nero 6, it probably may be hard to find a standalone download now as nero have trials all over the place. I know it does not work with the latest nero's and when loading nero 6 on vista it will say that it is incompatible, but it does still run and work fine. Just try googling for it and you never know you may find a torrent to download.

change the settings in nero, there are two different settings for dvd burning, one for your pc only and one for most dvd players etc.. check the settings in nero and also set dvd shink to produce dvds that run region free once burned.

Try and download one of the software's available here

also download CCleaner from here and clean/fix your system from unwanted files and registry issues.

If you have a DVD lens cleaner...try to clean the lens of your DVD rom.

hope this helps, please rate.

Non of the 3 USB ports works anymore for unknown reason

ok, the answer is pretty simple, ur usb ports connect to a internal hub, that hub is what has malfunctioned, u need to reinstall that device's driver though the device manager on vista, go to start, type device manager in the search box, click device manager in the list, a uac query will appear, click continue, on device manager go to universal serial bus controlers and click the +, right click the usb root hub and uninstall it, repeat that for all of the usb root hubs, then restart ur pc, it will automatically reinstall the devices with a fresh driver, plug in your usb device and it should work, have a great day and happy holidays

I would like to scratch-install the new WINDOWS 7 on the TOSHIBA P105-S6114. Is this okay? Are there any problems I may encounter?

Hello,

ecommended Windows 7 Installation Method SelectionToshiba provides support for installing Windows 7 on laptops built since 2007. Depending on your model, Toshiba recommends using one of the following software tools as part of the Windows 7 installation process, to support ongoing use of Toshiba provided features and functionality:
  • Toshiba Upgrade Assistant for Windows 7, for upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on laptops made in 2009
  • Toshiba Software Installer for Windows 7, for performing a Custom Installation of Windows 7 ("clean install") on laptops made 2007-2009
Find your laptop's serial number on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop, note the second character in that serial number, then click on the matching link in the list below for instructions on Toshiba's recommended Windows 7 installation method for your model.
For all laptops made since January 1, 2007*
When upgrading from Windows Vista (not a Custom or "clean" Install)
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is 7 or 8, click here.
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is 9, click here.
When upgrading from Windows XP, or doing a Custom Install ("clean install") from any operating system
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is 7, 8, or 9, click here.
  • if the second character of your laptop's serial number is not 7, 8, or 9 then it was manufactured prior to 2007.*
* Installation of Windows 7 is not supported by Toshiba for laptops made prior to 2007.

Hope it helped.

Dvd/cds will not burn past 85%

Try burning at a slower speed and try +r if using - R or visa versa on the dvd disks. My better half burns all the disks here and this is what she reccomends.

HOW TO FACTORY RESET TOSHIBA SATELLITE NOTEBOOK

That model Toshiba does not come with a recovery CD, does not have a restore partition, and does not allow you to creat a recovery disc when working normally, so unfortunatly you have 2 choices.

1. Call Toshiba and try to get them to mail you a recovery disk, if they have any they will likely charge you for the disk + shipping.

2. Reinstall windows manually using a clean install, you can use any OEM windows disk as long as it is the same version as your windows product key on the bottom of the laptop (i.e XP Home/XP PRO/ XP MCE/ or VISTA - all vista disks are basically the same and have all 3 versions on them)

Make sure you have backups of the drivers for your network adapter and other hardware before doing a clean install.

Toshiba Sat A135-S2386 System recovery downloads??

As you have stated that the key which  you have is for
Vista - basic
and the operating system is most probably vista Ultimate
hence the key is not working

what  You can  do is search the internet for a Vista Ultimate Prodct key
if you can find it i  guess the activation will go through  easily

if this  does not work  or you want any  other assistance please do post back.
