Hello my ongoing problem started like this-- i had been using dvdshrink3.2 on my toshiba w/vista basic for 2 years no prob.then one day it started failing at around 85% of the burn process,it would encode the entire movie but would only burn 85% or so.same with cds as well.i thought it was the dvd drive so i bought a new one installed it with no change in the performance.so i got pissed and just wiped my entire hard drive (i had several other program probs).then i reloaded my disc that had dvdshrink 3.2 on it,to find that the version of nero key # i had was expired and if i wanted to use 3.2 i needed nero,so i downloaded the free trial of nero to check it out.my first attempt burned100% but the disc was incomplete, backwards(scene 3 before scene2 for example) no menus, unable to respond to remote functions.settings in shrink had been the same as always.my second attempt failed at 5%.wtf.can any one help me?do ineed to get an updated version of 3.2? is there any downloadable burning software that i could use other than shrink3.2/nero?this seemingly is the last prob my comp has please help me fix it before i throw it off a bridge.

Re: cannot get my dvdshrink 3.2 to work anymore
I think it only runs best with nero 6, it probably may be hard to find a standalone download now as nero have trials all over the place. I know it does not work with the latest nero's and when loading nero 6 on vista it will say that it is incompatible, but it does still run and work fine. Just try googling for it and you never know you may find a torrent to download.

ok, the answer is pretty simple, ur usb ports connect to a internal hub, that hub is what has malfunctioned, u need to reinstall that device's driver though the device manager on vista, go to start, type device manager in the search box, click device manager in the list, a uac query will appear, click continue, on device manager go to universal serial bus controlers and click the +, right click the usb root hub and uninstall it, repeat that for all of the usb root hubs, then restart ur pc, it will automatically reinstall the devices with a fresh driver, plug in your usb device and it should work, have a great day and happy holidays

That model Toshiba does not come with a recovery CD, does not have a restore partition, and does not allow you to creat a recovery disc when working normally, so unfortunatly you have 2 choices.
1. Call Toshiba and try to get them to mail you a recovery disk, if they have any they will likely charge you for the disk + shipping.
2. Reinstall windows manually using a clean install, you can use any OEM windows disk as long as it is the same version as your windows product key on the bottom of the laptop (i.e XP Home/XP PRO/ XP MCE/ or VISTA - all vista disks are basically the same and have all 3 versions on them)
Make sure you have backups of the drivers for your network adapter and other hardware before doing a clean install.
