Look, I really don't mean to be condisending, but I have to establish; did you try new batteries. I mean 'new' batteries, not freshly charged ones?

It makes a difference - don't rely on your rechargable batteries when troubleshooting.

If power supply is not a problem, how about that the card AND card cover is closed properly (does this model have a cover for the card slot?)

Is there any indicators on the LCD (display/screen), any icons, error codes?????

Like dotball said, It looks to me like the batteries have gone dead. First charge the batteries and if that doesn't solve the problem, try new batteries.

When I turn my camera on to view pictures, the red light on the camera in the bottom right corner stays on and I'm not able to view my pictures on my memory card. Can you help me identify the problem?

If one card works and the other doesn't then it sounds like you have a defective SD card. Nothing you can do about this but buy another one and toss it.

This is why you should backup all your photos off the camera and onto permanent storage media.

Cannon EOS Rebel XS shows busy display stopped working

Just got a brand new camera. Played around with it a few nights to learn all the parts and buttons. Went to a concert tonite. While waiting for the show I took many test shots to see how the camera would work under these contiditions. Used a 75 to 300 Cannon lens. I had just got the settings about right when the show started. All of a sudden the display went dark and "busy" flashed in the view finder. But it would not take any more pictures. Taking the battery out and removing the sd card did not help. The auto focus and flash still worked but nothing else.
This camera is going back to the store if I can't get some help. PLEASE............. vj

Preview Picture - Locked Up

Eventually, the camera's battery will die. I suggest removing the battery and then wait for 30 seconds and put it back in. This should solve the problem.

i don't know what age the camera is, did you try full batteries , normally it shouldn't do this it must have a defect if the batteries are not the problem..

perhaps contact the dealer see what is wrong with it..

File error

I have seen this problem with generic SD memory cards so it could be a faulty memory stick.  Try to get a replacement.  If you want to try to recover the pictures you have taken, I suggest Zero Assumption Recovery (Google for it). Check to see if it is compatible with your camera before downloading.

Tab on the camera. E18 is a stuck lens. This is common on this camera. I'm not saying this will fix it, but don't break it.
