You should be able to chose that drive in the setup (bios) select it to boot first..

If you are looking to add eSata ports to your Mac Pro, the Dynex card is not compatible. I recommend a simple SATA extender cable connected to a bracket. NewerTechnology offers such an option; I have used it myself, and it retails for a very affordable $20.

RUNNING A SATA HDD ON AN IDE ONLY MOTHERBOARD

If I am not completely mistaken you have to reinstall the OS on the SATA drive on IDE. That is because the first installation was configured for connection on a SATA /PCI then now on the SATA/IDE port converter.

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this helps

Installing a IDE to SATA converter adapter

I have successfully connected a older. 20 GB drive to a computer with a 2. sata connection on the mother board.

Buy trial and error I found that connecting a power cable to the converter and the hard drive was the only way to get the Bios To recognize the drive.
Done sucessfuly with a 40GB drive as well, Set drive to master.

Sounds like the system is trying to boot from the drives attached to the controller. Go into your setup and make sure the system is set to boot from the proper drive.

My new HDD isnt showing up in my computor

What type of HDD is your new one? SATA, IDE?

Do you have any USB disk devices plugged in to your system? USB hard drive or flash stick or other SD cards? Remove them and try rebooting again. These can sometimes take precedence over your HDD and your system will not boot.

Installing a 2 port ATA-133 IDE adapter card to a desktop w/a hard drive & DVD

I don't think you can boot off of the ATA-133 so you will have to boot off of the IDE on the mobo and have the DVD drive jumpered cable select on the 2nd IDE. Boot that way to make sure the system boots. Shut down. Then instll the ATA-133 adapter with NO DRIVES on it and boot. The system should ask you for drivers for the new hardware. Intall the drivers. Shut down. Attach the new drives to the ATA-133. Reboot. You still might have to go into admin in windows and assign drive letters to the new drives. Anyway, if you are trying to boot off of a drive on the ATA-133 adapter, I don't think you can do it. I have mostly used Asus boards with Award Bios and there was no way to point the boot process to an add-on ATA Controller.
