Question about HP Computers & Internet
My picture freezes for no apparent reason. If I reboot, the media center starts working again. my tv freezes during games then when i turn off the tv and turn it back on it goes for like 30 sec then does the same thing... i dont get it
Possible overheating issue. If it's a graphics-intensive game, it tends to push the CPU and graphics hard harder than when you're just surfing the web, which generates more heat.
Trying opening the case and see if you have dust bunnies - any buildup of lint or dust on air intake areas. Canned air is good for getting rid of that. Also verify that all fans are spinning. The fan bearings will seize up after a while and will probably need to be replaced.
As a temporary measure, try removing the side panel on the case if that's feasible. May help some with cooling and can tell you if your problem is heat.
