Hey Marie-
You seem to be the projector guru here so here goes.....
I have a HP VP6110. I recently just put a brand new bulb in and turned it on. The unit powers on, the bulb lights up and the HP splash screen appears. Next the unit attempts to find a signal or displays the input I have in it. After about 20 seconds from turning it on, either the unit displays "over temperature, shutting down" with the temp light blinking or the lamp turns off with the temp light and power light blinking. The latter has been happeneing more often lately. Eventually, the whole unit powers down. It looks like all the fans are blowing, feels cool actually.
I cant get to the menu to reset the lamp counter. is there another way?
Is this a ballast issue? If so, where can I get one?
Desperate here... My kids want there big screen back! lol
Thanks in advance..

I actually fixed this myself!!!!
Here's the fix: Take off the top cover of the projector. Unplug the wire leading from the two fans in the back of the unit to one of the circuit boards in front of you. Just trace one wire from fan to board. Unplug at board. Turn unit on and it will again turn on, show HP splash screen and then shut down, like it should, because the fans are now disabled. After it completly shuts down, plug the fan wire back into the board. Turn the unit back on and, presto, its working again. It will not turn off.
Try it!
