Question about HP Digital Projector Vp6110 Multimedia Projector

Unit turns on for 20-30 seconds then powers off.....Please Help

Hey Marie-
You seem to be the projector guru here so here goes.....
I have a HP VP6110. I recently just put a brand new bulb in and turned it on. The unit powers on, the bulb lights up and the HP splash screen appears. Next the unit attempts to find a signal or displays the input I have in it. After about 20 seconds from turning it on, either the unit displays "over temperature, shutting down" with the temp light blinking or the lamp turns off with the temp light and power light blinking. The latter has been happeneing more often lately. Eventually, the whole unit powers down. It looks like all the fans are blowing, feels cool actually.

I cant get to the menu to reset the lamp counter. is there another way?

Is this a ballast issue? If so, where can I get one?

Desperate here... My kids want there big screen back! lol

Thanks in advance..

Jack-

    I actually fixed this myself!!!!

Here's the fix: Take off the top cover of the projector. Unplug the wire leading from the two fans in the back of the unit to one of the circuit boards in front of you. Just trace one wire from fan to board. Unplug at board. Turn unit on and it will again turn on, show HP splash screen and then shut down, like it should, because the fans are now disabled. After it completly shuts down, plug the fan wire back into the board. Turn the unit back on and, presto, its working again. It will not turn off.

It is the ballast issue,u can try one of the equivalent ones or just try & rework on the old one, perhaps one of the mosfets is leaky!!!!!!!!

When turning the unit on, powere button changes from red to blue for around 3 seconds, then goes to red off again. Anyone help?

Its due to the complaint of its Power Ballast unit ( Power Control Board). So please contact any one of the service centre in your area.

Why does it turn on and stay on for a few minutes then turn off with the bulb light flashing?

Bulb has gone bad, and will require a new one. Or check all the fans of the projector and make sure all are running accordingly and nothing is hindering them.

I have an HP VP6111 projector. It hasn't been used for about 6mths and now I try to power it on and the Blue light around the on/off button will light up for about 3 seconds and then turn off. I've...

Please do not unplug the power cord before POWER is shut down or during the two-minute cooling process.
If the projector is not properly shut down, to protect the lamp, the system will detect this and cool the lamp for two minutes automatically before turning on again.

Check that you are doing this.

I suspect that this is not your problem though.

It seems that the blue light doesn't flash very long. do any other lights come on during the startup process.

some projector are normal like what what you mention...you need to connect a video source like computer or sound system that have a video output going to your projector...because if you power on the projector with out a video source you see only what you mention the logo of the projector..

My projector will not power on. I've replaced the cables, the power source, and the bulb but still nothing. The red standby led on the control unit turns blue when power button is pressed but goes right...

The ballast unit has most likely failed. Replace the ballast unit, unless the lamp exploded and in which case, there may be glass fragments stopping a fan from turning.

We have two Dell 2400mp DLP projectors that will shut down randomly. The time that the projector is never the same.

I just got done talking with Dell, they told me to unplug everything from the projector, power source and all. Then Press and hold the power button down for 45 seconds. This will disapate the electricity from the capacitors. Plug everything back in, and test. Seem to wook for me!! Good Luck
