My toshiba A85-S107 doesnt detect the internal modem

I had a virus so I formatted and threw in a disk (Not the original). When I try to "RUN" a " DRIVER DETECTIVE" disk all I get is a message saying "System DLL user 32dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:|WINDOWS\SYSTEM32|SHELL32.dll occupied an address range reserved for Windows System DLL's.The Vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL". What is a "DLL"? And where and how do you get them? Is this a type of "Virus"?Before the virus I seen that I had a V.92 modem.

This is not a virus. It seems like Windows was not installed correctly and you should either do a repair or reformat and reinstall your OS. You can repair by inserting the disk and hitting F8 or F2 and hit repair or just reinstall the system

Bios does not detect cd rom drives, the cd rom drives has power but it does not work cause bios its not detecting it and it a new drive, my toshiba satellite is a85-s107 let me know if u can fix it.

I have a Toshiba Satellite L355D that would not detect the CD Rom in the BIOS although the Rom appeared to powered up and running. I traced the problem to a ribbon cable connector that was between the jack the CD Rom plugged into and the jack on the mother board. The ribbon cable plug at the MB had backed out and was only making the power connections to the Rom making the Rom appear to be operating.

I would like to restore my Toshiba Satellite laptop A85 to original state. Can I do this without the disks. I have backed up all of my information and want to start over.

It depends. Some laptop computers have a usually-hidden "recovery" partition on the disk-drive.

Reboot the computer, and look for a "start recovery" option as the first page of text on the computer-screen. Press the specified key to access that "recovery" partition.

Or, some Toshiba computers have a utility to *CREATE* a set of system-recovery CDs, by burning the necessary files onto CD/DVD-recordable disks. Run that utility.

when ya boot it up...press F8 a bunch of times and try to go to safe mode and try to copy all your files to a hard drive and then put the disk that came with your computer in, and reinstall your operating system and that usually works for me

just go to the manufacturers support website, and look for the phone numbers for tech support, give them a call asking for a operating system cd, have your model number, serial number and a credit card ready, you are going to pay like 20 dollars.

Problem running the restore disk for Toshiba A85-S107

I have the same model and i just reformatted the hard drive with the original restore disk and it does loop around several times. That is the way it is suppose to do on this particular restore disk. So don't be afraid if it goes around several times because it is doing different tasks each time it loops.
