Printing problem Hi, My Hp 1320 suddenly is not printing anything sent from my computer (except the HP toolbox demo pages)....it is in initially in ready status(green light) and then receives the print instructions but spits out 1 blank sheet, followed by the error light (flashing yellow) on the unit....prints the demo pages perfectly using HP toolbox or by directly pushing the green GO button....i checked the cables, reinstalled the printer driver twice, made sure that the correct driver is selected on the PC, checked printing using other computers with the drivers previously installed - same result -- seems to be a hardware problem but don't know what. Please advise. thanks

i forgot to mention that I had done the cold reset before as per the service manual...and i tried it again....same result...prints all demo pages from the hp toolbox but not from printer properties (print test page) or any other program...

youre right about this being a weird problem

    Hi,

I switched to a shorter USB cable and connected the power cable directly to the outlet but this also did not correct the problem. I have also unsuccessfully attempted a 'cold reset' as per the service manual.

However, i then attached a parallel cable instead of the USB cable and selected LPT1 as the port in printer properties...this did allow me to print but only one page...when attempting to print multiple pages, the printer only prints the final page. The status lights behave exactly as before.

Then i switched back to the USB cable, selected DOT4 as port in printer properties but the original problem persists. I have tried tinkering with selecting all other ports but this just yields an "error printing" message.

I have also noticed that the duplexing feature does not work anymore. In the past the printer would "pull back" the sheet of paper when duplexing was selected.

This is certainly a weird problem.

1320 not printing all the time

Your USB cord may be too long, or you have too many USB devices running. Try removing any other USB device, except the printer and do a test print.

Printing quality off? 2550 HP laser jet?

When installing new cartridges, it's always a great idea to perform a cleaning and recalibration of the machine. Below are the steps needed to do just such a task. You may want to print these out or save them somewhere for future reference as well. They are directly from the HP website.
Please rate the tip accordingly and thanks for using Fixya.com.
Cleaning the printer
  1. Verify the printer is turned on and in the Ready state.
  2. Open the HP Color LaserJet 2500 Toolbox. Click Cleaning Page on the Troubleshooting tab, and the click Print (HP Color LaserJet 1500 or 2500) or Cleaning Page (HP Color LaserJet 2550). A page with a pattern prints from the printer.
  3. Remove any paper that may be in tray 1.
  4. Remove the page that printed and load it face down into tray 1.
  5. At the computer, press Clean .
Calibrating the printer There are two methods of calibrating the printer manual: at the printer or from the Toolbox on the computer. From the printer Turn the printer off and then on again. From the HP Color LaserJet 1500 or 2500 Toolbox on the computer
  1. Open the HP Color LaserJet 1500 or 2500 Toolbox in one of the following ways:
    • Double-click the HP Color LaserJet 1500 or 2500 Toolbox icon on the computer desktop.
    • Select Start , Programs , HP Color LaserJet 2500 , and then HP Color LaserJet 1500 or 2500 Toolbox to open the Toolbox from the Windows desktop.
  2. Click Diagnostic Tools on the left side of the screen on the Troubleshooting tab.
  3. Click Color Calibration to perform the calibration procedure.
From the HP Color LaserJet 2550 Toolbox on the computer
  1. Open the HP Color LaserJet 2550 Toolbox in one of the following ways:
    • Double-click the HP Color LaserJet 2550 Toolbox icon on the computer desktop.
    • Select Start , Programs , Hewlett-Packard HP Color LaserJet 2550 series , and then HP LaserJet Toolbox to open the Toolbox from the Windows desktop.
  2. Click Print Quality Tools on the left side of the screen on the Troubleshooting tab.
